Photo of Arthritic Dog Swimming with Owner Goes Viral
photo-of-arthritic-dog-swimming-with-owner-goes-viralPhoto of Owner with 19-year-old Arthritic Dog Goes Viral.
Both arthritic dog and owner were taking a dip in Lake Superior. The photograph was posted on Facebook and its popularity continues to increase. The photographer, Hannah Stonehouse Hudson wrote that the dog, "Schoep" was being held in his owner's arms and that whenever the dog enters the lake, he falls to sleep because the warmth of the lake and buoyancy of the water sooths his arthritis. Schoep's owner, John, rescued him when he was a mere eight months old.
The photo was first posted last week and has received over 200,000 "likes" and has been viewed over 2 million times. The picture shows a sleeping dog being held or cradled in his owner's arms as the two enter and wade around the lake. Photographer Hudson says that she enjoys capturing treasured relationship moments and that her friend, John is a kind person. Having rescued Schoep as a puppy, John and Schoep have been joined at the hip ever since. John found that the water was therapeutic to Schoep and he wants the 19-year-old dog to be comfortable.
Photographer Hudson has said she is shocked at the attention the owner swimming with a sleeping dog photograph has received and that she just wanted to document their relationship and how special it was. Hudson has made the print available for sale on her website and has pledged to donate a percentage of her profits to assist John and Schlepp with veterinarian bills.
