Sorry to bump thread but I'm confused to all the different choices.
I have had some losses on CL today when volume exceeded 3k (i trade using a 1 minute chart), alot of slippage. I would like a reall good indicator that gives me Volume spike alerts so that I can make my exit from the trade. can anyone please make some recommendations?
If you wish to use a volume alert to exit your trade, this only makes sense if your trade is profitable. In this case you would use a limit order (no slippage) and not a market order.
If you have set a hard stop to limit your losses, you cannot avoid slippage. Theoeretically, you could use a stop limit order which would limit losses. But with that order type you may not get filled at all.
The BetterVolume indicator comes with volume alerts and can be used for your purpose. You can also look for the 1 min volume and use an alert when the specified amount is exceeded.
Hi Fat Tails,
I have small request to make a change in this indie. I like to see the dot on the bar where the volume is > 3X then the average volume. Can you please help me out on this.
Hey guys, I thought many of you would enjoy and benefit from this thread. My intention is to have each poster reply and describe in as much detail as possible an indicator they want created for NinjaTrader.
HI I have been using Better Volume, for a couple of years now and love this indicator, but find it has one really annoying characteristic. Every time a new bar prints i need to refresh the data in order to get the correct bar color, otherwise it often prints a false one, usually magenta.
Once I refresh the data it's fine, until the next bar.
Does anyone know how to fix this? is it a setting problem?
