Hi guys,

I enhanced the "I like it" and "I am not interested" buttons in the newsletter, so that if you dislike the event, you are shown an option to also unsubscribe from all future event emails automatically when you click the button.

We never want to send an email that someone doesn't want to receive, so I err on the side of caution and make it as easy as possible for someone to unsubscribe.



This would stop all future event emails of any kind, keep in mind. But we want to make it easy either way.

Everyone should always feel free to dislike something. You certainly don't have to unsubscribe just because you didn't like it. We learn from feedback, as always.

Somewhere I have some Java-based code that adds falling snow to an image. Let me know if you need it and I'll dig it up.

Made some changes so that our ogimage for each thread is now auto-generated by the system.

For about a 5 minute period when I made this change live, the server was returning unexpected results causing most people to be unable to access the site. It was only for a few minutes while I corrected the problem (sorry).

This change benefits our social media shares, with embedded images. The image is selected based on age, popularity, and qualifications (size/type). It isn't something you'll see as a normal viewer to a thread, it's just metadata for Twitter and Facebook bots.

Please report any problems.

You can now login using your email address or username. Before, it was username only. This lets people that forgot their username log in using just their email address, without having to go through the password reset option.

I'm wondering about a couple of posts in the battlestations thread that have their images sideways.

In this one, @MiniP doesn't know why they are showing sideways, when he says they were straight when he attached them:

Battlestations: Show us your trading desks! At the current moment, I am using an HP desk top with some additional goodies on the inside and I have an HP elite book for a back up/ travel work station. Keyboard and mouse are a Logitech wifi system with a cored mouse for a back up. Will be upgrading …

I assumed it was just a user error, but then saw this one also, and wonder if there is something going on, or if there were just another user error:

Beginning the night of January 16th, some users started experiencing some strange access errors when trying to access certain content on the site.

I fixed the majority of the problems late on the 18th, however a few more issues persisted. The most notable of which would be a limited number of Downloads in the Download section that were inaccessible or were routing to the wrong link.

I believe that as of this post, all issues have been corrected. If you continue to have any issue accessing content, please do let me know.

Hi @bobwest,

It is something to do with the exif image data. When a cell phone takes a picture, it stores the orientation so when the photo is viewed, we know if it should be viewed in portrait or landscape mode.

But, somewhere along the way, with our image processor software on the forum, the exif image data that stores that data rotation info, doesn't always work correctly.

The easiest solution I've personally found in the past is to download the offending images, and then rotate them in a photo editing app, save them, and re-upload them.
