There is but it is not practical because, depending on your settings, bars can be formed in under 1 second whilst others may take minutes - hours.
Did you mean reversal bars only? Now that would be something sound worthy but again depends on your settings. By settings I mean how often a reversal bar is formed.
Yesterday, 44 bars were drawn in the ES from 9:30 until 4:00pm using T2R12O2 settings. I don't mind if some bars are drawn in a few seconds, it gives me a cue on how much activity is going on (without noise).
Okay, just remember you asked for it (as in i still think it is unwise). Attached is a quick and dirty indicator file. You will need to put a sound file of your choice into the Ninja trader program folders, as for folder example:
C:\Program Files\NinjaTrader 7\sounds
The filename needs to be "mybarsound.wav". so you can make a copy of any sound file and name it to mybarsound.wav and it has to be in the location C:\Program Files\NinjaTrader 7\sounds
Import the attached zip file as any other indicator. Once installed it will be found in the indicator panel as "UniRenkoNewBarSound". Operates on "OnBarClose" = true only.
Took me a while to select an audio sound fitting for the purpose. Finally set my mind on some sound samples of the Heavy from Team Fortress 2 saying "Thank you".
Thought it would be a good idea to remind myself to be grateful during trading.
I was wondering if it would be possible to choose the sound file name from the indicator settings instead of having to use a default setting. This way it would be possible to set a different sound for each instrument so that I can know which instrument is moving just from the sound. I've been fiddling with the ES and 6E.
Now I know you said it was a bad idea, but really it doesn't ping all that often, even in the morning because of all the sideway movement. Thanks in advance!
