Yes, the issue is with the "partial" new setup implementation and will remain until it's a "full" implementation.
The specific issue is the application server is now ~12ms round trip from the database server, and on certain query heavy pages this introduces a noticeable delay.
I am going to continue working on the new implemention, which when done will re-unite the app & db to the same physical servers, eliminating the delay.
Actively working on new server implementation today. Please continue to report any issues.
Expect brief outages, I will try to keep to minimum or zero where possible, but it's a big process. The new setup will be more resilient at least, moving from a single point of failure/single physical server to a multi-node cluster setup on Google Cloud.
Known issue: Making new posts is taking a long time (up to 10 seconds) right now. This will be solved when app & db are back in same physical spot, right now high latency due to transition.
