You can use "the way around" using FastStone Capture (or similar screen capture tool).
FastStone Capture can be set to post the picture automatically to your website - using ftp. That way you can post the selected window or screen area just by pressing a hot key and selecting (=chart, trade log,...).
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Just starting this thread as a placeholder so as I make progress on this I can update the thread. It will be a while as I've been sick for a while now, and am quite behind on other things like emails and PM's.
I looked through the thread, forgive me if I missed it but I don't see auto-posting when a trade is taken. I want to take a trade from chart trader or the DOM and have something that detects I took a trade and POST the info.
Ok, I looked again. I still don't see anything that does what I'm asking. Everything that involves posting has to do with either an automated trading strategy posting the info, a button the user has to push to post the info, or code functions for people to use within their own indicators or strategies.
What I'm looking to do is simply take a trade, as I normally do on NT DOM or Chart trader and have it automatically POST. I don't want to have to click any extra buttons or anything. It should be transparent to me.
I am a programmer and have no problem modifying code. The problem here is that there is no documented methods (or any I can find) for an event handler in NT when a trade is executed. The ones I found do not work within an indicator, only a strategy. If someone can just tell me what event handler to use to listen for an execution, I can do the rest.
You might want to create a more specific thread title to get the attention of those who can answer. It does exist without question, but I cannot think of what thread to link to.
Dooby, you could also ask Ninjatrader Support again, whether there is a way to get an order execution / trade in the DOM to run a script.
It will probably involve having a strategy or indicator running in the background that has an event listener for fills, so you can launch what you want to do from there.
They might say that there is no unsupported way again, but they might also tell you an unsupported technique or point you to an indy or strat as an example.
You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you.
Hi @DoobyWho, I will be releasing a significantly upgraded futures.io (formerly BMT) screenshot/chart minder package in the next few days that should be able to do the sort of thing you want to do, for example we could have OnExecution trigger an event name that one or more windows are listening to, that will save/log the charts locally and or upload/post them to a futures.io (formerly BMT) thread.
Here is a brief (colloquial, sorry) introduction I posted in my journal on Friday (could be good timing)
I will start a more formal detailed new thread in the next couple of days. This is just the sort of thing I want to be doing myself, including triggering from external platforms, not just within Ninja, that's one of the many reasons I have built it to address. Currently I have restricted events to be treated the same as timers, i.e. save locally only, but that would be easy enough to change.
Tomorrow I'll have a look at including your idea in the first release. I hope to keep it supportable for all and with futures.io (formerly BMT)5.0 and NT8 in mind. If necessary you can just modify/extract whatever source you need to built your own.
