Still doing a lot of reading. I have been reading some articles about the E-mini S&P 500 as it is what I want to trade when I get started. Learning about Gaps, how news affects the movement, etc. I haven't had too much time the past few days though as I have been tending to my family but I'm trying to get an hour in here and there. A book I am just now starting is:
A Complete Guide to Day Trading by Markus Heitkoetter
Should take me a while but I wil update on things I learn as I go along. Till next time!
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I just don't understand some of the words used but I am getting through it by looking them up as I go. I'm just so new that all of the ideas, concepts, and lingo are very foreign to me. I am learning about gap-ups, down trends, indicators, etc. and it's all very interesting! Thanks for keeping up with me DBPhoenix!

I'm about a quarter of the way through the previously mentioned book and it is helping me understand trading very well. I am currently working on putting together my trading plan and should be working on a trading strategy within the next few days.
Sorry guys, been super busy lately and haven't finished that book yet. Life has been getting in the way a bit. I am getting back on track starting tomorrow. I have moved a desk we have out of our bedroom and into the living room and will be using it for my reading/studying and it will be where I set up my computer for SIM training. Sorry about the long delay, training and studying to commence in 3...2.....1......
ok let us know. I was trying to private message you about how to set up the sim training on ninjatrader...but it says I need 5 or more posts on the forums. I'm also a newbie but I've been a sponge and soaking everything up!
You can do it directly from the ninjatrader website. They will provide you with a trial account name and password so that you can SIM in real time. I like it a lot but I am trying to avoid it for a little while until I get my knowledge base up a bit as per what @DbPhoenix said about developing a plan and a strategy first. I am working on my plan as I read through this book and should be developing anew idea about my strategy soon.
I'm glad to see you're also learning the trade, it seems like a very exciting adventure for us and I wish you all the luck in the world at succeeding!
Thanks @slimphatty for the link, I'll have to check it out.

So I decided to become an Elite member here a couple days ago! I feel like it was worth it to access the elite only information, and since this forum has helped me to get started, I feel that the info I am receiving is worth way more than the cost of becoming elite. Thanks @Big Mike for the wonderful forum and the wealth of knowledge you and others have compiled here over the years!
I am going to get further in my book tonight after my brief hiatus, i am about 2/3 of the way through it and hoping to be done with it by tomorrow night. After i am done, i will review the book and what i have learned from it, and hopefully i will have my trading plan finished by then
