X1 is a mere toy, just like the mac air... anyhow, you should look at the W520 as a desktop replacement.. you will be able to get what you need.. I posted about why I believe the W520 to be a good choice here..
Most people tend to trade with lots of screens and workstations with good compute capabilities; personally I prefer to have the same setup, but given that i travel and work I still need a portable platform to satisfy not only my trading but compute needs …
my complete setup, including lenovo monitors, replacing the 320GB with 750GB 7200RPM, and adding a msata 80GB... is about $4K... I am opting for fastest CPU, all RAM, bigger GPU, etc.. my laptops usually last me 2-3 years..
and you should still have a desktop, look at the lower Z Class. i.e. Z200... assuming of course you were looking at the Z600 or Z800..
I currently have a W510 that I use for paper-trading. I decided to not have a laptop be a desktop replacement. After looking at a few Z's, I did narrow it down to a Z200. Good to hear that you feel it would be a good choice. I didn't buy it yet, but will soon. New desk just arrived which is next...
If you guys looking at multi display solution, might consider
USB 2.0 UGA Multi Display adapter
sorry, may have pasted links and stuff, no promotion for specific product, you can get them on ebay between 40 and 70 bucks and this way if you running Vista or Win7 you can have upto 6 displays on your laptop, they plug-in into your USB ports, so it is pretty mobile and still cost effective solution
End choice of inputs is large VGA, DVI, HDMI etc..
