Awesome, glad to hear it. And with this new infrastructure, we can do so much more -- especially for our members outside the USA, to further improve speed even more.
I hope to hear from other members as well, letting me know their experience.
Blisteringly good! Great work Mike!, thanks for the fantastic effort, as always.
I did see one New Posts anomaly cross-machine this morning but that got sorted when I did a full browser cache clear. I am not surprised as there would have been left-overs from Friday.
Sorry I wasn't around for testing over the weekend but I have limited my online time at the moment and was a little distracted this particular weekend anyway.
If the pic loads as well, then you are cooking on gas (as some of the kids say )
Unfortunately just had a New Posts fail Mike, as shown here:
I had even posted a reply to the thread a few posts further down the page. Can't see a way to see this in advance without going into the thread, pity there isn't a 'First New Post' date as well as 'Last Post' date in the search list, that might show the problem quickly. Only using one machine at the moment.
**edit - just had another one in a different thread, back to January 18th, still seems to happen randomly every few threads clicked on from New Posts, I'll leave it for now.
I had 9 "New" post buttons this morning that were all working, until I hit one that put me back into an old post. I can't be sure I had actually read this post before, but it's in a thread I have subscribed to for a long time, and I certainly have been following and reading it recently.
Here's the post it found:
Since I'm subscribed to the thread, I also had an email message, which I had not clicked on yet. The text it quotes is from the correct, current post:
However, when I used the email link to get to the post, it put me back into the old one from April. Since I had just viewed that post from the "New" button, it probably was affected by my having just gone there, so I doubt that there is a problem with the email message itself.
Here is the actual latest post that I should have gone to in both cases, which is the same as the quoted text in the email notice:
All the others "New" items worked fine this morning for me.
Ok guys, I'll continue working on the new post issue and add some debugging info that you can report so we can track this down and fix. It will be later tonight or tomorrow.
Regarding site speed, I'd love to hear from more members about their experience with the site today vs a couple weeks ago -- how is the speed and responsiveness?
I just got another one where the email notice for a subscribed thread put me in the wrong place, so maybe the other one I mentioned was a genuine problem after all, in addition to the "New" issue.
Here's the email notification, quoting the correct new post:
Here's where it put me, way in the past:
Again, I had been in this thread already once today before clicking on the email View button.
I just finished all my other email notices, and they all worked correctly. In many cases I had already gone to the thread via the New post button, so that's not always part of it.
Bob.
PS, speed is noticeably much better in everything I've tried so far. That's working well.
Still working on fixing the newsletter email system. Please report any strange email behavior. I'm close to implementing a new system but had to make some core changes to some of the regular email system.
I have disabled the last change I made regarding post-redirection caching, until I have time to troubleshoot this figure. This should solve this random issue.
Glad to hear the site is faster, still much to be done -- in particular with speed of saving new posts.
If everyone could please confirm that this problem is no longer occurring, then I will revisit it a few days from now. Important thing for now is that "it just works".
I believe I have solved the slow post problem (slowness when pressing submit). I would like to hear feedback from you guys whether or not that is the case.
