Today I discovered there was a small issue with a particular edge case scenario where some members who tried to use the "Contact Us" form to ask for help --- usually things like login problems for example --- were not able to successfully send us the message.
The server reported back to the user "success", but in fact we never received the email. This issue began this morning, and has been resolved as of this post.
I do have a list of email addresses from members who tried to contact us, but I do not have the body of the email -- so I will be reaching out to these people one at a time and notifying them of the situation (link to this post), and then finding out what kind of help they needed so we can get it resolved.
To be clear, this email issue did not have any other spill-over effect on other emails generated by the site that are sent to members (such as thread updates, private messages, etc). However, it was related to the server migration and specifically when we changed our MTA -- we found a bug in the forum software that we've fixed that only relates to this particular "contact us" scenario to the best of our knowledge.
Please continue to report any other issues regarding the migration.
Thank you,
Mike
Also today, we improved the "Moderator Notice" message (as above) so I might as well use it here and show you that change
My forum reputation has been reset to zero. It was not like that last night. Something change? I have had posts over the last several weeks including yesterday, so I should have something..Yes??
This is related to the migration. Some of the maintenance operations like the updating of reputation are not yet running on the new server. I've been migrating those over and in fact all morning have been working on the most critical ones (backups/snapshots) and once those are done, I will move on to things like the reputation.
Thanks for reporting and please bear with me. For now, I'll try to do a manual one-time update of the reputation for everyone.
Here is a current list of "stop" or "ignore" words for our wiki. This list means "even if there is a wiki article matching this name, don't link it in posts". By link, meaning an auto-highlighted word.
For some words, like the ones used below, it can be quite annoying to see them highlighted in so many posts.
If anyone has suggestions for additions to this list, let me know. Please try to keep it to only those that occur far too frequently in posts that the overwhelming majority of users would already know the definition for.
