I am such a new trader that any post I make would just be wasting the time of the experienced traders who make this site so great! I really appreciate the opportunity to learn from everyone else, and have no desire to steal and resell their work.
I'm new here (been elsewhere for a couple of years) but your site has already hooked me up with a vps provider and provided me some insight on alternate trading platforms to the one I'm been using to date. And this was before I've dipped into the downloads. Most of this info has been priceless in pointing me in the right direction. So I have no issue with paying for Elite access (hopefully that shows a more committed member), and therefore someone more likely to not only benefit from the download but hopefully to contribute further to the site with their experiences after using them.
So - by all means limit download access to Elite members
I think it's a good idea to limit downloads to elite members. If your not willing to spend $50 on an elite
membership, your just wanting an indicator for nothing or not serious about trading. I don't post often
here at futures.io (formerly BMT) but it was probably the best $50 that I have spent.
I agree that ALL the downloads should be in the elite section. There is a lot of work and time invested in the creation of indicators/strategies, etc. which should not be subject to scavengers. It is important to maintain the integrity of this site because we are all contributing members to the creative process that is going on here. Even if we just ask questions or make comments about the work of others we are contributing and that should be protected.
You might want to consider allowing those indicators that are posted at the NinjaTrader forum and found on futures.io (formerly BMT) to be available for download outside the elite section just for convenience for those members not interested in becoming elite members. However, to my way of thinking - anyone seriously interested in trading and all its aspects will definitely want to become an elite member.
Also, one of the difficulties that I am having is finding indicators which are in the process of being created or improved within threads. It is also difficult at times to know which is the most current within the threads or how many versions we are working with. Is there some way to catalogue indicators/charts/strategies within a thread for easy location. It's tough when you are looking at 100+ pages within a thread.
I strongly believe you have every right to, and should, restrict downloads to elite members. You put an enormous amount of your time building this site so traders of all skill levels can continue to learn and grow with others. I'm also sure every trader that ever visited your site has paid hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on other "education" sites and chat rooms, so asking for a nominal fee to access the download section is not unreasonable.
I do think it would be unreasonable to ask us to post 50 messages to the forum. I really believe I personally have nothing yet of significance to offer the more profitable traders here. I suck at trading. This is why I am here, to draw on others knowledge and hopefully someday soon have something to offer in return.
