You might try contacting @NinjaTrader, I am sure they have some sort of official policy regarding their licensing mechanism when a vendor goes out of business. I just don't know what it is.
NinjaTrader has no rights, ownership or legal authority over add on products. We are not a party to agreements made by and between add-on vendors and customers. Any change in licensing must be initiated by the vendor.
I might have a solution for people with a license file to get 9G working again.
Still needs to do some testing as my virtual machine was acting up
@Big Mike am I allowed to share the files and procedure with the community or should it be kept to private messages ?
I'd like as many owners of 9G as possible to be abelt to benefit from it. I really appreciate how good this DOM is and it's sad Ross can no longer develop it
To succeed in trading you need to think like the minority ,so you won't end up like the majority
OK,so I'm done testing.I have finally figured it out.
I had a full howto written and everything. Thought I'd be the hero of the day But it was not to be
It's not good news to some people
There's several scenarios:
1: If you have a license file for 9G,but have lost the NinjaTrader directory from back when the 9G DOM was working.
2: If you have a backup of the NinjaTrader directory from when 9G was working.
3: If you have a backup of the NinjaTrader directory from when 9G was working, but you reinstalled your computer.
4: If you only have the license key and the install files for 9G DOM.
Some people have contacted me that have a license file. But unfortunately that's not enough to get it running.
Basically what happens is that you will get a prompt to install the license file. It will then try to authenticate the license and it will fail as the servers are no longer there
I'm sorry to say there's not much to do. if you have it running make a couple of extra backups just in case
Here goes..To make a long story short. Only option 2 and 3 will result in a working 9G DOM ! Option 3 will require some fiddling around, which I'll be happy to share. If it's OK ?
I'm kind of in a dilemma here. I've payed for the product and want to support Ross as he's been very helpful to me. And I found a solution to get it working even after you switch to a new computer. But it will bypass some of the licensing limitations Ross put there.
Honestly don't know what to do

I don't want to get into trouble with @Big Mike ,so I will wait and see if he gives me an OK to go ahead and post the info
The way I see it. It will only work for people who bought the product,so I'd think it's safe but it does bypass some of the licensing limitations in a way. I'm not into the legal stuff and don't want to get into trouble hope people understand that

My two cents. You do not know why the vendor is MIA. Maybe his product is infringing on a patent, maybe he has sold the IP to another party or is in the process of doing so. Maybe he just left the building and is not planning on coming back. My point is, you should think twice before you take any action that might get you in trouble.
