A change has been made to discourage abuse and spam -- so that user profiles no longer advertise information such as URL's or external sites - for non-Elite Members. Spam bots don't sign up for Elite Membership, so this is the distinction being made.
I've also removed the 'last 5 new users' block on homepage, for the same reason.
, as if you didn't have enough things on your list, here is another, which has bugged me literally for years:
We have been speaking of that list of recent posts on the right side of the chat box. I've always used it as the most convenient, most easily understood way to see what has been going on in the forum. It's doesn't have as many entries as the New Posts list, but it's right there, and, like , I like the fact that it color-codes the latest poster by non-Elite, Elite, Wizard or Admin/Mod status. This is good to know. Before I became a mod and needed to look at everything, this coding often guided me about what I would look at first. I only recently started to use the New Posts list.
The thing that bugs me is that it is too short -- it has too few items. Sometimes I will come back to it and something that had been on there recently has already scrolled off. I never knew how much I may have missed by not checking it more frequently.
My suggested change: make it at least contain the last 24 hours worth of posts. If that is hard to do, then at least increase the number of posts by a lot. Triple it would be a good starting point.
I know this is either an easy change or a hard one. Things work like that. But if it is easy, please do it. This has been a thorn in my side forever, and for some reason I never mentioned it until now... but I would definitely appreciate it.
Bob.

Hi , I want to be sure I understand -- you are referring to increasing the "activity feed" to the right of the chatbox, correct? When you say "New Posts", I think of the navbar button labeled "New Posts". But I believe you are referring to the auto-updating activity feed on the right side of the chatbox on the forum homepage?
Tweaked the Market Wizard formula to drastically simplify it after having some inspiration.
New formula will cause some people to lose status and some to gain, cannot be helped. But for most part, it is equal. The formula however now makes more sense, and it is more dynamic in its floor/ceiling.

I will continue to look for ways to improve it. It is largely based on your activity on the site, post usefulness, recent posts are weighted, etc.
I have fixed the Quick Summary bug whereby if a user edited the title of post #2 to something other than "Quick Summary Post", it prevented future edits.
The best I could patch quickly was to do a once nightly maintenance to identify these situations and fix them. So, if this happens to you, it will fix itself once per 24 hours.
Thank you to for reporting a bug where Elite Members who haven't yet made any post were receiving a message at the top of the screen asking them to make a post and stating that they were NOT an Elite Member.
That was a bug that was recently introduced. I've made changes and believe it is now corrected, but would like confirmation from anyone else who saw this message erroneously.
