Yes, the Range Bars in NinjaTrader6.5 isn't good. I found a bug in NinjaTrader6.5, and asked them to fix. Please see it at NinjaTrader Support Forum. But they refuse to fix, and recommend me to use NinjaTrader7. NinjaTrader7 is still in Beta Version, not stable.
MC might have good performance, and good quality. But its development language is Easy Language, not as powerful as C# in NinjaTrader. So i had better keep NinjaTrader6.5 for trading for now.
Have you ever tried Pro-EdgeTrader at Lions Futures(Sorry, this web site doesn't allow me to post a link)? The platform is totally free, and support both Easy Language and C#. But unfortunately Lions Futures Management, Inc. doesn't have documents to help programmers to develop customized indicators and strategies on Pro-EdgeTrader platform.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?

In my humble opinion it is not a good idea to be sticking with NT6.5 and the above assertion is just plain silly.
Have you ever noticed how the NT6.5 charts lag several seconds behind the DOM during fast markets? How much memory it uses? How its database constantly becomes larger and more fragmented? How it slows to a crawl if you have more than a few indicators calculating on every incoming tick? Would you call these ADVANTAGES?
When I used NT6.5 it would crash all the time. I would not call that "stable".
I have not even bothered to start up my NT6.5 in over six months. The perfomance of NT7 is a hundred times better. ALL my indicators run with calculate on bar close = false and I have a whole bunch of GomRecorders running. There is NO noticeable chart lag.
This is not the thread for NinjaTrader, but just want to confirm this post. It is a 100% accurate desciption of NT 6.5. and it also explains that I have not touched NT 6.5. for several months!
Losing my patience with NinjaTrader
I am also a bit losing the patience with NinjaTrader 7. There is a new bug every day. But this is not the subject of this thread. I have some questions regarding MultiCharts.
(1) Is it possible to access daily data from intraday charts?
(2)Is it possible to colour the background according to defined criteria (such as DrawRegion() or DrawRectangle() in NinjaTrader?
(3) Is it possible to define sessions, or alternatively, is it possible to access 1 min data from tick or range charts via indicator?
For #1 and #3, you can easily add multiple dataseries to a chart. You can even have different data feeds on a single chart, ie Zen Fire and IQfeed, same chart, etc. Once the dataseries is on the chart, you can access it in an indicator using "data<x>" ie data1, data2, data3, and get the OHLC of the bar.
For #2, I want to say yes for sure, but I've not messed much with background coloring, but there are a lot of options I imagine background coloring is one of them.
For #4, there is no DOM and no chart trader in the version available for download today, but I've seen the DOM and Chart Trader personally, and I think it is good implementation. I think you won't have to wait much longer to see it yourself, but I can't be too specific here. MultiCharts always releases a public beta before the final, if you look on their forum in the announcement section you will see a very clear pattern of release schedules including the public beta then gold final. I've used both MC 5.5 betas and MC 6.0 betas and found them to be extremely stable, so personally I have no cause for concern for using the beta DOM and chart trader as soon as it is available.
I can add a daily dataseries to a minute chart and access the daily bars value? I do not need to display the daily bars, because I do not want to see them?
i want to ask u guys familiar with multicharts, whoever is using zenfire free datafeed on multicharts, the following:
- ninja seems to have a different bar pattern for the same datafeed from user to user. is this also something that is experieced with multicharts. for example, if a doji shows on my 125 tick charts at 10h00, will it show the exact same doji on any other multicharts screen running the same datafeed?
- how does multicharts replay trading compare to ninja's 1st class replayfeature. can u download data from servers like we do in nt7 i believe in fixing my probs in replaytrading and do extensive replaytrading to test my breakout trades.
- for price action only fundi's, what advantages does multicharts offer?
1. Will be same on the same datafeed, assuming your start date/bar is also the same. Just like if you open a NinjaTrader 6-range chart with a 4 day lookback vs a chart with 3 day lookback, the bars will be different if the historical period is not the same. Otherwise, it will be the same. Also keep in mind session periods are the same.
2. Replay data is built from the same data as historical data, there is no different data like with NT. At any moment, just click on your toolbar a specific date/time to go back to. It's one click, takes 1 second. No disconnecting, no reload, etc. I suggest you try the MultiCharts demo.
3. Stability, speed/performance are #1 for me. From there, I appreciate supporting a platform that is heading the right direction. There are also numerous features particularly for backtesting that MultiCharts excels at, but for price action indicator-less traders, MultiCharts is just very nice, clean, stable, lean, top performing app.
Again, I suggest you get the trial so you can form your own opinions. As with any complex piece of software, there is a learning curve, especially if you are used to NT.
