It's not equal because Quick Summary was editable by any Elite Member. The concept being the community as a whole could digest big threads, and summarize in post #2 (QS).
So guys, I got the core functionality of ctrl-v paste as well as drag n drop to work with the forum, synchronizing with the database and accepting the uploads.
Now I need to build around that and refine it.
I also am prototyping based on the pop-up attachment box, but I would like to find a way to deploy this feature next to the editor instead of as a pop-up. I'm not certain on that yet at this point, it also has to do with maximum width constraints of the site to maintain compatibility.
But overall, man this is huge progress. No one else has ever made this work to my knowledge.
Just to set expectations, this is not quite an HTML5 rich editor experience where the images are rendered inline in the editor as you type --- you still see BB code --- but still, a major improvement in ease of use, especially with how many screenshots people post. Now you could just print screen and paste...
Thanks for all the improvements - amazing!
As you put so many effort in the existing platform does it mean to forget about the shift to the new one?
Just a shy question - thanks.
I'm going to roll out phase 1 and make it live. Right now, when you are posting a reply to a thread, you'll see a "Drag and Drop" section to the left of the editor.
It will auto-insert embed codes for images into your thread.
Currently, it does not have remove/delete functionality. I am working on that. If you need to remove an attachment, click the normal paperclick icon for attachments off the toolbar.
