With my first test to build a backadjusted contract I already ran into trouble. I am aware that this is a new feature of MC 6.1 , but it is one of the features that I need to correctly display my fibs.
So I created that custom future contract, and downloaded the required data for the single month contracts, and then tried to display the custom future contract (backadjusted with volume crossover).
Nothing but an empty screen. Getting an error message: "To construct Custom Futures please add contracts with the following properties: ES root, CME exchange, ... "
I have added all those instruments and they are correctly showing up.
Does anybody know, how to display a backadjusted futures contract?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Under your custom future, then settings - specifying Globex for the exchange corrected the problem for me. Had a similar issue with CL, NYMEX was misspelled NYME
thanks again for the hint. Changing the exchange setting from default (CME) to Globex worked. So I have a backadjusted contract now, that I will scrutinize.
Hi Fat Tails. Glad I could assist. And I didn't want to see you frustrated so early in your demo. Look forward to seeing your analysis.
I'm using the custom futures with iqfeed. Every oil rollover has me questioning what chart to use for my technicals: current month, ratio adjusted, etc. But this is a general issue and not MC specific.
I am a seasoned NinjaTrader user. Do you think I ever will be frustatrated, if something does not work immediately? I might be frustrated, if there is an serious problem that no one - including support can fix the problem.
Here is an example of a NinjaTrader feature (not serious, as there is a workaround and it only occurs occasionally). I am not frustrated, but it is actually sort of funny.
Not discussing crude rollovers here. There is already a separate thread on this. It is important not to roll too late, as the old contract can be volatile due to storage situation in Cushing prior to delivery. I use volume cross-over.
only testing MC during the evening hours. Need your help again. So by chosing Globex for ES I get a backadjusted contract.
As there are known rollover dates for ES, I selected Rollover Condition Time, 8 days prior to expiration date. This is also the default. Now, if I count 8 days back from expiry date, which is a Friday, my rollover date becomes Thursday, which is the official rollover date. So I expect MC to roll after the Wednesday close. However, I checked and the rolling is already done on Tuesday after the session close.
Either MC developpers or me cannot count up to 8. Or there is a problem with conversion to local time. If I set the rollover condition to 7 days it works as expected with 8 days.
1. There is no sim engine in MC 6.0. They are adding a DOM and Chart Trader very, very soon, but the sim engine is likely further out.
2. Yes, it has portfolio scanner which is very nice. It shows you a mini-graph of each chart in a nice line list, plus you can define custom columns and alerts.
