Everyone,
I've been coding a new chatbox from the ground up. I have the framework done and it works. Now, I need features on top. I plan to implement the basic features from our current chatbox today, but then diverge strongly with the new chatbox.
I want to include support for drag-n-drop or ctrl-v paste images. They will be displayed in a separate column and as thumbnails.
Other than screenshots, what other missing features would you like to see with our chatbox? I know things like are popular these days, but my job as community admin is to keep people here and not direct them to other solutions. What do we need to implement in our new chatbox so that you don't need a group?
Realistically please...
Thank you!
Maybe add some audible cues. Like if someone is specifically referenced with using the @ sign, a bell rings or some other noise is made for that user.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?

if possible to highlight and save certain conversations would be great. I sometimes find my self going back and looking through old chats to find useful information about something that was talked about. Something similar to a "star" system that gmail has so you can save/favorite important emails. Other then that sounds like you've got everything
covered .

Ok, a "favorite" (star) icon to save it for later review.

Ok, and that will be an option you can toggle on/off.
I was wondering about a way to identify if the entered text in the chatbox is an actual trade. If we can force people to a certain format, it would have a lot of advantages to know which chats are trades, and which aren't.
For example, chats that are trades could be bold/highlighted, and could trigger a sound. And could be filtered as well.
Do you think people could stick to a format of putting hashtags only on actual trade chats? Like #ES or #ES_F? I could detect that.

I think if you did a simple #Cl or #6M etc etc people could follow that, also make it work for upper and lower case so #cl & #CL , im not a programmer so hopefully that's not a lot of work. Could you do an auto fill similar to what twitter has. EX: if I start typing in #E then i start to get similar searches but this would only have futures related info.

I think you could get people to stick to the format. Something you could include in the "Chatbox rules" link you have. If not the # sign, maybe $ sign. like $CL or $YM.

never realized there was a rules link until you said something, might want to make it more obvious for people like me lol

That was written 10 years ago, I'm afraid to even look at it.

Tagging both $ and # is not a problem. Case-insensitive is easy. Auto-complete, sure anything can be done but I haven't written that kind of framework yet so at least in the beginning that won't be there.
Yes to tagging/mention.

OK guys, regarding bookmarking posts:
https://nexusfi.com/bookmarks.php?do=list
I am still working on it, but the core is there to at least add bookmarks.
When I am done, there will be an email sent when you bookmark a post. It will summarize the post info, and then list your other bookmarks.
You can also view your bookmarks in UserCP -> Bookmarks List (towards bottom left).
It's very rough around the edges. I am working on framework stuff to make it more efficient before making it pretty and totally functional.
