This is something I should have done months ago. The purpose of this thread is just to track the changes that I make to the site over time. Some may find it interesting, but its mainly for me.
So, unfortunately most the heavy lifting has been done …
This is working fine and adds something to the user experience, so it's a good thing.
But every time I see one of the expanded links, I wonder if someone who is not familiar with them really understands that they are actually links that can be clicked like any regular, non-expanded link. They actually don't look like conventional links, but just like graphics that don't necessarily lead anywhere, unlike a standard url, which everyone is familiar with.
I am admittedly not the most social media-aware person (I hate almost all of it, to be honest ), but this style of link was not familiar to me until I saw it here. I've come to like it, but it still doesn't look like a link to me.
So my suggestion is to just add the url to the expanded link graphic, so it's clear that this is actually a link.
In the above graphic, this would just mean that the (clickable) text string "https://nexusfi.com/feedback-announcements/2497-futures-io-site-changelog.html" could appear, perhaps at the bottom or just after the other text. It would then be more clear what is intended.
I think this would help with usability, and it couldn't hurt.

I don't know whether this is browser specific but with Firefox, when I hover on that expanded link graphic, the border changes into a blue one and there's a tooltip that tells you "Click to view".
I've added a video to show the effect on Firefox.
