Actually, this is not an error. It's a result of how deleted posts are treated, and it's not new. It's always been this way.
When a post is created, it is given an id, which does not change (and which is the basis for the permalink number of the post in the upper right corner), and the thread's post count is increased by one. As other posts are created, they also receive a permalink and their permalink numbers go up in sequence. If a post is later deleted, the count is reduced by one, but the permalink assigned to the other posts are not changed, and they should not be, because they are used to identify and link to them. For that matter, although the deleted post no longer can be read, it isn't actually removed from the database -- it simply is marked as deleted and is not shown, which allows it to be undeleted if necessary (for instance, if deleted in error.) So it's still there, just not visible, and its permalink is still there also.
So if a certain post is deleted, it is not counted in the post count, but all the link id's, including its own, are unchanged. This is where the difference between the post count (which does not include deleted posts) and the sequential number of the post (which does) comes from.
@Big Mike explained this in his reply to your original report on the question:
This thread will remain open for specific development and refinement of the dark theme, but I'm returning back to the primary changelog thread for all other important posts.
Please 'Follow' there to not miss out, for example today's quickly quoting highlighted text feature.
You can highlight text from a post, and it will automatically format it as a QUOTE reply. The only thing not working is it doesn't auto-paste into the textbox on the New Reply screen, you'll have to manually hit …
Another bug:
On Safari on iOS I get this weird black bar on the left side of the screen whenever I open a thread. Due to the bar, all the links on this part on the screen do not work.
