The problem is a complete lack of transparency from Interactive Brokers. The API interface is badly documented. Then if you contact them with a problem, the support staff will fend you off.
I absolutely understand that this quite an unpleasant experience for NinjaTrader developers and that they procrastinate, only doing upgrades when absolutely necessary.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
You are receiving this communication as we have identified your account UXXXXXXX as one that is submitting orders via an API (either your own software or third party application) and using a TWS version that is substantially outdated and scheduled to be decommissioned for API purposes effective May 1, 2014.
Effective May 1, 2014, TWS versions below 940.0 will no longer be operable for API use, but will remain operable for non-API generated orders. It’s important to note that if you are integrating a third party software application (charting, order entry, analytical, etc.) with the TWS, you are doing so through the API and must upgrade if you wish to continue using that application.
To repeat, if you are receiving this notice and intend to continue using an API for order submission, you must upgrade your TWS version and the deadline for doing so is prior to May 1, 2014.
Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact your local Customer Service Center.

hope everyone with that problem like me take action before 01/05/2014
Just for the record, and just in case traders are still having problems with this:
I am now running IB TWS 936.9 on a Mac OS X computer; and NinjaTrader 7.0.1000.22 on a Windows 7 computer with absolutely no issues at all.
I am very satisfied with this solution having each piece of software on a different PC and talking to each others via IP addresses and ports on the network.
This setup in fact allowed me to update TWS and NT7 regularly and independently, each to their newest version as it gets released, without compatibility issues at all.
The truth is that I do not have two physical computers in my office; but I am just running several virtual machines each dedicated to one specific task/software, etc... and I see no performance degradation for what I do.

Strange they mention versions below 940.0 in this email.
I just did a quick check on their website just now; and the latest versions they have are the followings:
1. for Windows latest time-tested version is 939.4
2. for mac latest time-tested version is 936.9
3. for Windows most recent version is 944.3
4. for mac most recent version is 944.3
I personally only use their latest "TIME-TESTED" versions as it is more stable.
In their own words: "This time-tested version of TWS changes less frequently and offers maximum stability, but does not include all of the newest features."
So are they going to update all their time-tested versions now?

do shit. If There is a problem on 5/1, I'll wait a week then find another broker. This is the wldman tech dept official response. If someone from IB wants to share my machine and do the switch and make sure it is working fine that would be cool.
