Hey Tony I have used volume profile with TOS. The problem is the data is not accurate, so if you are trying to trade like FT71 you may be taking a long where he would take a short because his data is correct and yours is just close.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Thanks strang302. I learned about TDA / TOS's data in a thread in the TOS forum here. And that is one of the reasons I'm looking to take my futures biz elsewhere.
You can get a reasonable likeness with ToS's volume profile study. You could probably work off of that. The thing I believe you cannot do is build the long term composite profile because ToS doesn't have data going back that far. Most places don't.
If you chose IRT, they offer DTN MA historical data for $15/mo and, with that, you could easily build your composite. These things (composites) get posted periodically on the web and in the VK chat room so you might even get by without for a while. I wanted to do that too, coming from ToS. In the end, I decided trading was going to be a business and I needed to approach it more like one.
Check in with Anthony Giacomin (aka Mr. Service) at VK as they sometimes have discount agreements with SW vendors and data providers. Apparently I can't post his email address until I've made another post here on the futures.io (formerly BMT) forum.
Its a chat room with FT71 where traders exchange their homework for the day, share levels, some call out their trades, and discuss anything trading related. Lots of good info is exchanged and people help each other out. FT71 has been doing a bunch of live intraday webinars too where he broadcast his screen and talks to/with the chat room and discusses his trades and levels. If someone is needing help or wanting to share he offers them the mic to have a chat with him and the room.

Hi
Im new to futures.io (formerly BMT) and also quite recently to VanKar (couple of months). I have used multiple brokers in the 1.5 years I have been 'learning' trading and to be honest, I have found VK very refreshing in their approach. I am still a little burned, by being caught up in the MF Global debacle (on the UK side) but VK seemed a good opportunity to move my activity to a broker that seemed to be offering not only services but education also from a seasoned pro (who is very generously giving his time often) as I have recently been learning to trade with volume profiling.
Not at any point has anyone at VK tried to sell me anything, or pushed me and Anthony was only too happy to respond to emails almost immediately..!
I had been watching FT71's publicly available webinars (and then donated to get the webinars 1-4.1) and this drew me towards volume profiling and then towards VK trading. Again, not at any point has anyone tried to sell me their systems/promises.
I am more than happy with their platform so far (an OEM from Open E-Cry (I believe)) but with the added trade analyzer tool, it makes a massive difference when in the live trading moment.
I have data from a separate provider which VK also recommend as a good option to do, so to me that shows excellent transparency as VK do provide real time data.
I am very hopeful of building a successful relationship with the VK camp as I genuinely feel they are providing a very different approach from any other broker I have used.
Commissions are fine but that is not my main focus as the main reason I moved to VK is that I feel I still have education in front of me and it seems that VK (in particular FT71) will be assisting in this alongside the VK community. We regularly get an instant invite to a non-recorded webinar/group trading session which is invaluable as its in real time as the RTH markets are online.
The minimum balance is 10K (USD) possibly moving to 15K shortly and margins are not the low kind but I like that, it really saves you from trading ridiculous sizes..!
I'm brand new to trading futures. I've been using VK's Demo platform for a week now and going live tomorrow. It's full of features and easy to customize. I followed FT71's advice and went with IQFeed and Investor/RT Pro. I was with TDA TorS. After downloading some charts from Charthub.com to get me started quickly I feel like I've moved onto a new planet! IRT is so much better than anything I've seen so far. FT71's layouts are full of so much information that I feel like I've been trading blind until now. I simulated trades on Friday with these new charts and hit it out of the park. I'm so excited about the decision I made to go with VK I'm going to have a hard time waiting till I'm fully prepared. Everyone at VanKar has been helpful. They answer the phone on the first ring most times. They replied to my emails within minutes. They assisted me in making sure my transfer went smoothly the first time. They provided me links right away to get me uptodate on their platform. The risk manager is easy to use. The Trade Analyzer is exactly what I've been looking for. When I was first paper trading I kept records manually the same way Trade Analyzer does automatically. That alone will make me a more consistent trader. Check back with me in a week or two and I'll give you an update.
