For what it's worth, I was having the same trouble with CQG/AMP connection through Ninjatrader. random disconnects. my cable company helped me see that someone/something was remote connecting through my wireless connection. never figured out what it was exactly but when using wired connection it didn't happen. cleaned up my computers and enhanced everything computer with zonealarm firewall to keep the freeloaders/hackers at bay.
One of my VPS customer told me he had a bad latency with CQG server (his VPS is in Chicago, and is supposed to be < 1 ms from CQG servers).
We found that the packets were going from Chicago to a router in Dallas, and then to Chicago (routing problem with Abovenet).
It seems it's better now, but not as good as before, around 7 ms, so far from perfect, compared to ZenFire which still below below 1 ms.
Anyway, CQG is a bit scary, with such huge latency differences, at least for traders for who latency (so fills quality and slippage) matters.
So far the past couple weeks I haven't had any major issues, but it comes and goes.
Download PingPlotter (free 30 day trial) and you can see if you have any packet loss or bottlenecks along the route to CQG servers.
CQG uses the following connection IP/Port:
IP = 208.48.16.130
port = 31654
I'm seeing 10-20% packet loss along the path to the destination server at CQG.
It wouldn't be such a major problem but it takes CQG 1-2 minutes to reconnect which is just ridiculous. I'm testing ZEN (sim) out on my laptop simultaneously and if the connection has a hiccup, it reconnects in <10 seconds.
I've trouble for ages. Now i've cleaned out my account and gone back to IB. I still use AMP / CQG for data though and in fact since i'm in Shanghai, i've swapped to the Singapore server, removed the router and hooked up direct to the outside line. Hopefully this will make a difference....If not then I'll just have to wait until i move back overseas to trade with AMP.
It has come to my attention from multiple users that AMP Trading/AMP Global is threatening to close trading accounts against users who share their experiences about AMP Trading on futures.io (formerly BMT).
If this has happened to you, please contact me ASAP.
