Thanks for the effort Mike. Even with the audio only for the first few minutes it really didn't impact the whole of the program. I had intended to be there live for the webinar but circumstances wouldn't allow it so I really appreciate getting to listen and see the exciting changes ahead with NT8. Ray does a great job presenting, answering direct questions and walking a balanced line. Thanks again to you and Ray.

I think Ray and his team are doing a good job with the CORE of NT8. I am sure others as well as myself are a bit frustrated with waiting. I for one are more of a developer right now and just don't want to waste much more time on NT7 where I know my application requires the features of NT8. For example, I wrote the LOM libraries to help with unmanaged orders, I don't want to touch that until I can get it working with NT8. Also, my Genetic Programming could benefit with many of the new data features. I need to forge ahead with NT7 but feel I am suffering a bit with the older platform .NET35 etc where the newer platform would be perfect for me. I understand there will be bugs and such on that side, so I don't expect it to be a rose garden, but it will lift some of the chains.
I didn't go far outside the box with NT7 coding like @Fat Tails and others by overriding the plotting so I am not expecting big problems. LOM will need some help as it seems like the IOrder is changing. I am hoping NT8 might bring more to the table where LOM doesn't need to cover the gaps in trading flexibility.
From a structure point, I know it is and will be painful for Ray and the NT8 team through the transition, but I believe what they are doing is the right thing. Make the change now and take the lumps, rather than trying to support an older technology moving forward. By making the change now, the NT Team will be more agile and able to make better and faster changes in the future. Plus developers will get this same advantage. (As well as us in the community area)
I would love to see an ALPHA or BETA where you can sign away your pain and suffering. I am with Ray, I wouldn't want to release a ALPHA/BETA to people that don't know what they are getting themselves into. Right now, NT8 should not be used for Trading, but exploring and parallel development. The parallel part with the coders is really what is missing from the plan. I am sure resources could be a problem here, do you apply engineers to developing the platform to bring in the public launch or do you slow the launch and allow a bigger splash with your development community (more people ready for the release with product/solutions etc.).
Great webinar. NT is taking a great leap forward by availing users of all the new programming objects.
I hope it is programically rich enough to enable strategies to run 24/7 and deal with broker server reset issues (i.e. message box "account unavailable" and restarting NT to reestablish trading ability).
Just watched the webinar (thanks!) and I didn't hear this question answered, so perhaps someone will have an estimation...
I realize that the release date of a beta is still an unknown. Understood. What worries me is the time frame that developers will have with an alpha/beta before the final version is released to the "consumer" community.
In other words, how long will developers have to get up to speed with NT8's changes AND change their code before the flood of "Where is the NT8 version of your product?!" come from customers.
This coming from someone with a lot of "plot" overrides! ;]
Thanks again for your time Ray. I'm looking forward to the new Ninjascript additions. I'm still really bummed there's no portfolio analysis/backtesting features but maybe next version.
I'm looking forward to having a test drive that's the only way to really comment, but certainly I'm looking forward to many of these features. How has beta testing been to date? and what does your project plan estimate as the time line for roll out. Working Technology I realize its very difficult to give precise dates for work in progress. But an idea of what stage in the development cycle you're currently at will be great.
