Thanks for the heads up. Any specific places to look for in those states?
I will probably stay on a 3 month tourist visum regardless of where I go. Should I want to stay longer - I suppose I can just travel out of the country and back in.
Maybe it's because I never been there, but Tokyo strikes me as a place I'd love to visit, but less certain if I'd like to stay there long term? Also - isn't it quite expensive?
With time zone - doesn't US session mean trading during the night?
I need to start looking into this seriously now. I managed to extend my lease where I currently live, but it's a short resignation period so that's not a problem. I am in a long term relationship now, so that's blocking my plans a bit. But I'm considering doing it anyway.
I've been a lot to Spain and always felt at home there. So I'm considering looking into that. Either the mainland or even Gran Canaria or some of the other islands.
Anyone have any input there?
Lately, I'm also hearing good things about Budapest.
Hi!
I´m a local resident.
Of course it depends on your lifestyle, but I would say that you can have a pretty decent one with 1.000/1.200 USD per month.

I have no experience with the other cities you mentioned but Zurich is gorgeous but expensive!
The leaving and re-entering thing is completely legal and I know people who have done it although not in the last several years, so they have changed their attitudes recently. Florida and Texas are big states with very different options. Houston for example is the 4th largest city in the US, is very international, very diverse and pretty progressive. It's great in the winter, but the summer climate is oppressive! Also you can't do anything without a car. If your a big city person you'd probably like it, if your not though you'd probably hate it. You don't have to go far outside the city though before you start seeing gun racks on pick up trucks and meeting a very different cross section or people. It all depends what you are looking for.
Ahhh yes it probably is! For what it's worth I ended up in Houston (from London) because of a long term (long distance) relationship!
I consider the Tokyo Midtown complex to be the best place to live in the city. Monthly rent for a 1 BR in that complex is about 5.3k EUR.
By comparison, I consider One57, Columbus Circle and Hudson Yards to be the best spots in NYC depending on where you spend most of your time, but these three are about 6.8-9.8k EUR for about the same floor area.
Assuming linearity, I'd say the cost of living in Tokyo is about 63% of NYC.
You can have 2x better food in Tokyo daily for 1/4 the budget in NYC.
Yes, you'll have more of a life trading European session (e.g. spot FX) from Asia.
What would be your language of choice in Budapest? Among all of the European countries I've been to, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy and (a little better) Estonia were the most difficult to integrate into as an English speaker, in improving order.
This doesn't seem to have anything to do with the percentage of population who can speak a 2nd language. Portugal and Lithuania have a low penetration of English speakers but the locals there are incredibly welcoming to outsiders.
I have a long term girlfriend here in Oslo and she's tied to this city for a while now. Being able to relocate was part of my motivation to become a trader and now that I can, I'm suddenly tied down. But I'm considering doing it anyway...
Seems like you've been around a bit. If I were to learn a new language - I'm most motivated to learn Spanish or Italian. For Eastern Europe, I was hoping I could get by on English. But as you suggest, I've heard it can be challenging. In fact, it's a big challenge in certain parts of Spain as well (typically once you stray off the tourist tracks).
