ONLY under the following conditions does the NinjaTrader client transmit trade data to NinjaTrader servers when a trade is executed independent of what order entry window was used:
This impacts a very small percentage of our user base. Less than half of 1 percent of our user base was impacted by the conditions above over the trailing three months.
The collected trade data is solely used to calculate and report royalties due to Trading Technologies.
As some of you have pointed out and we agree, the secure transmission of this data is important and was overlooked. As such, we have taken steps in the next release of both NinjaTrader 6.5 and 7 to transmit this data securely over HTTPS. We anticipate releasing these updates shortly.
The original thread in Elite Trader was suspicious due to the fact that it was the members’ first post despite that, I did respond as I am doing so now so that our users accurately understand this item. Once the thread deviated from its original context I asked for it to be removed.
Apart from licensing information and the exception detailed above, the NinjaTrader client application does not transmit any information such as but not limited to personal, trade or strategy data to any external destination.
Thanks Ray, it is nice to see an official response.
Perhaps I missed it, but when I follow your link, I do not see any mention that a user will have trade information transmitted to Ninja. While you are addressing the issue of sending info in the clear, I think you owe it to your users to inform them that their info is being transferred, and make sure they opt in to this practice.
We do include in our electronic license agreement displayed during the NinjaTrader installation process the text in italics below. I do agree that this should be placed in a more prominent location and will take action to do so.
"Some configurations of Software/Service may transmit trade execution data over the Internet to a secure database for the purpose of audit tracking."
I agree, see my response to "making it very clear" in post #24.
Your statement "users who click on static SuperDOM their trades will be recorded and looked at" is inaccurate. Your statement implies that all users who click on the static SuperDOM will have their trades recorded. Post #21 point #2 defines the conditions which must exist when trade data is recorded.
Not warning your users that they are sending sensitive data to you is unacceptable.
Deleting a clear Correct post on elitetrader because it's his first post is lame. Why do u shoot the messenger ? u should better agree that u care more about negative publicity.
I moved to multicharts, i advise every trader to do so and I'm already scared what ninjatrader's next mess up will be.
This is your personal choise and is not of interest here where u want to move, every trader can think with his mind.
It seems to me that your motives are only argumentative, and not useful at this point that the problem was cleared up.
