Today's "can you help" Q&A newsletter was sent out incomplete, due to an error that caused it not to be able to pull the unanswered posts and embed them.
I am pretty certain I know why, and fixed it, but we won't know for certain until next Sunday.
The primary change is with regards to third-party sharing of your email address. Now that we have built our own webinar framework (replacing GoToWebinar's registration process, for example) we are making it clear that we collect your email address when you participate in a Webinar, and in some circumstances, your email address is shared with a third-party presenter or third-party sponsor of that Webinar.
In addition, we've made it clear that in some events such as Journal Challenges or Battlestations, we may share your email address with a third-party sponsor. This is to make it clear that, for example, if you win a prize, we will share your email address with the sponsor.
For 10+ years, I've had to manually code all the HTML for every single event, every field, twice (once to add, once to remove). OMG.
So I am very happy that the new webinar framework has come far enough that I now can automate this part.
Now, one of the requests was to add iCal or vcal calendar event files so that our webinars can easily show up on your calendar. And I am having a stupid problem with this part, it would seem... (stupid as in, stupid easy to fix -- probably, we'll see).
I need help testing => click the +Add to Calendar on top please and tell me did it work as you would expect? Everything show up as it should?
Now, the bigger problem that I also REALLY need help, is for people to give me permission to email them a test calendar file. This is going to simulate what would show up when we send out our newsletter for webinar events so the event can be easily added.
I need Outlook, iOS/Apple, Gmail, not Gmail, and everything to help me test. If you give permission then I will send you a few test emails until I can confirm that one single format is working for everyone in the test group.
I would like to get as many in the test group as I can, so please help me and give me permission to email you these tests.
