and for anyone following along, the thread has rolled into the next page, p. 113, and the formatting error did not happen again. The first post on the page, post 1121, is normal.
Seems to point to post 1111 (the first post of page 112) as having something strange going on, if the error is purely about a page.

Since sometime last week, the site continues to show that I have 1 new notification, even though there are none. I have reviewed them all. I have tried logging out and then back in and using different browsers with no luck. Is there something that can be done to reset my notifications?
When the notifications count is off this way, often it's because you have a pending friend request (they count in the notifications total but are not broken out when you click on it.)
Look in UserCP and see (I don't remember exactly where Friends are located, but root around and you will find it.)
See if that is it. If so, you can respond and that will clear the notifications.

There was a problem browsing Download entries beginning with letter "U". I finally found what the issue was (a real edge case!) and believe it is now solved.
I am currently researching an issue with UTF-8 encoding of the Microsoft Word ?quotes?, which happens when people use Word to edit their replies and then paste.
I've seen issues with question marks appearing where I would expect an apostrophe, in a few posts lately.
So, as a test: this text has apostrophe's in it.
Let's see what it prints as.
Edit: well that went in OK, so the question mark issue is from something else besides the native post editor. Perhaps it's from people writing a post in a different editor/word-processor, and pasting in here. Not sure.
I'll leave this post up as a reminder that the issue is happening, but the cause in not known.
Second edit: it looks like the same thing as Mike posted about in the post just before this one. Instead of the smart quotes in Word (that curl one way for the beginning quote and the other for the ending), maybe it's the smart apostrophe's (single quotes instead of doubles.)
Test: copy/pasted sample of a smart apostrophe from Word: this is Word?s version of apostrophe?s.
Yep, that's it.
