Based on my personal experience with eSignal is they are more interested in their company and the way they do things versus what customers need. Could go into more detail but basically I discovered something about their datafeed and proved to them where and how the problem occurred and was told they weren't interested in fixing the problem even when they admitted to me that the problem existed. For me it was a show stopper and so I moved on.
I second this opinion. I really don't think they're interested in the data business, beause they don't behave like they are.
Example, they provide level I data for the HSI & Kospi, but no level II....retail traders want level II, at least they could offer it. They refuse to offer it.
I found that the eSignal platform was pretty decent and looked pretty good compared to say ninja trader, the trouble I had with it was that it was a nightmare trying to look for symbols, the data feed just seemed off for some reason and the DOM simply wasn't good enough and didn't show enough info.
I find this to be true when I pull up charts at open on Esignal. I will usually have a several second lag before the first candle hits the charts on my 1 minute. Annoying for sure when your looking for a quick scalp off the open. I use Esignal data and have a 30MB connection from Comcast so I don't think its on my end. I actually liked Schwab's software to, except for the chart limit. Also Schwab can't fill shorts like other brokers, there short fills suck..
I have only traded ES and NQs with TWS and normally I use Esignal for equities. I would have liked using TWS, but I have been unable to find OHLC indicators for the charts. I also really like the Esignal power scanner and the hot lists for finding volatility in equities. I am able to nail 99% of my teachers picks with the power scanner, so I either pay him or sub to Esignal for the scanner. Something I need to work on being able to do with any trading tools; I know.
After the server debacle yesterday, man I am almost in this boat myself. I had planned on shorting GMCR at open and by the time I flipped over to TWS, IB was out of shares. I was Ummm frustrated. I guess they may have been out before open, but I am still wondering?
Seeing how futures.io (formerly BMT) is plastered all over the NT site I figured there might be a little bias in here he he. Hopefully all of you nice people still have a permalink to this thread so I can get a current opinion on this. I really like Esignal, it is very nice trading software, unfortunately there are some tools that I want to use that will only hook into NT. It is not a money thing persae, but if I can do everything I want to in NT, then it doesn't really make sense for me to keep my Esignal. I trade a small amount of futures and do a lot of scalping and swing trading of equities, so I like to have a lot of charts up. I use 5 monitors for charts, T&S, L2, etc.. I also like the idea of getting a better data feed from Kinetick if it as fast or faster than my current Esignal data feed. In any case just wondering thoughts from everyone about the current version of NT w/Kinetick data feed from previous or current users of Esignal as well.
I use stockcharts for scanning (about 20 bucks a month with annual subscrition) and Finvis (free) for fundy scans.
Just wondering if eSignal added any value.
Don't use any indicators except price action. TWS has bracket orders that can be attached so exits are submitted when the order is placed and can be adjusted as the trade progresses.

Hi @t0030tr, you can also run the 32 bit version of NT (lack of 64 bit support from NT) just fine with the eSignal data feed anyway, runs very well for me in parallel with existing eSignal layouts. I don't know about Kinetic, except that it's just an IQFeed branding. I did try IQFeed, it was good, but not better than eSignal for me and many aspects of internal data were better on eSignal. As always it's just best to suck it and see, a few month's subs usually tells you what you need to know in all these areas. eSignal does remain pricey though.
