Unfortunately, yesterday was the 1st time we learned about this forced TWS upgrade for API users. Obviously the amount of "heads up" provided from them is minimal. We have already upgraded our interface this morning and it has been handed to our QA department for testing. We are working as fast as we can to make it production ready.
Ray, I do not think anyone lays this off with you or your team. Screw IB, if you can't save them and make it work on their behalf. If I lose a day, a single day, I'll transfer to another broker.
Nobody will actually go live with this "first day" will they.
I appreciate the efforts of NinjaTrader in their response on such short notice. I find it bizarre that Interactive Brokers informed the vendors at the same time as clients and gave them such a short time to respond.
Well I do know of one esteemed elite member here who has been using the latest verskion of TWS for some time with their latest NinjaTrader without any trouble whatsoever. He has not been 'toasted' as a result.
So I expect the NT QA to go through with no problems. NT really ought to do better keeping up-to-date with such vital compatibilities anyway. I mean, how old is 938.1? It is not just the API we run TWS for.
I've just downloaded the latest TWS version 944.3 of April 24th that I see on their website - MAC OS X - and installed it in my virtual machine. It is connecting fine with NT7 running on the other Win7 virtual machine: it receives the pending orders, positions, account info, etc...
I will still have to test it next week when market opens of course, and see how it reacts placing and cancelling orders, and getting filled intraday, etc...
But I really do not expect problems; it has been that way for every new version of TWS that I load with my current setup despite the fact that NT doesn't officially support their newer releases.
Successful people will do what unsuccessful people won't or can't do!
with the CME feed reorg cluster flock? Why would IB throw a bomb like this at customers on such short notice? Seriously if Im not all set before May 1, I will not trade May. If I waste more than 30 min on this I just move accounts.
I will provide an official response soon however, we have been testing with our current production release on the latest TWS and the feedback I am receiving from QA is positive.
