To me, the main difference between Tom Williams and Wyckoff is that Tom Williams is more of a bar by bar analysis, or to say bar pattern's type. On the contrary Wyckoff elaborate on period "phases" consisting of multi bar patterns ( see Wyckoff schematic ).
Taking a look at Wyckoff courses, his methodology is not simply about volume pattern analysis, it consists of multiple type of analysis like trendlines, support resistance, relative strenght ... That TW do not talk much about...
From my experience Wyckoff is much more of a complete methodology than VSA but VSA elaborate well into bar/volume relationship ..
Interesting comparison. What educational sources have you found useful in learning these methods? Also, do you think Wyckoff and VSA methods can be useful forex even though there are no market makers to manipulate the market?
I'm still learning Wyckoff and VSA and I've used the VSA indicators on both TOS and Amibroker; however, it may be that I'm still learning, but there seems to be a lot of signals to decipher.
Yes, I've recently saw some training videos on the Market Profile and it does seems to be related to supply & demand. I may not use it as a primary trading tool, but if you know of some more informational sources about it, please let me know. It could provide an additional way to confirm a trading postion.
There will be a Wyckoff Trading Methodology webinar with Q&A on Tuesday, May 10th at 4:30PM Eastern US. Dr. Gary Dayton is presenting. This will be an Elite only webinar.
A dedicated thread for the webinar and further details will be posted in a few days on the forum home page.
For those who take volume analysis seriously, you should check out the Investor/RT webinar on Wed 27th. It's open to everyone, and a lot of volume-related platform features will be discussed.
