I found BigMike when he was just a blog as I was starting to work with Ninjatrader. The forums came a couple of months later. It's been fun to watch Mike grow his trading styles as well as the forum. His commitment to filter out bad behavior and annoying vendor spam has always been a key component and I'm sure it takes a lot of work for Mike to go through so much content.
I believe I benefited the most from keeping my journal here. That 2yr span was really formative for me. I enjoyed the random line thread too, the random entry/coin flip threads, and the numerous debates about whether profitable trading can be successfully automated or not.
The amount of sharing and downloads are astounding, though I don't use anything I've downloaded from here or any other site. There are some great people here that are willing to help if you just intelligently ask and put in some work that show you are really working at it.
I think the most I took from the site was the focus on psychology and money management. There is some really good stuff there that most people will skip over.
I also have enjoyed giving back and this was a good outlet for me to help others, host a couple of webinars, and try to help people from making the mistakes I had already made by leaving comments in various threads.
I hope to meet you someday, Mike, and shake your hand.
futures.io (formerly BMT) has affected my trading by giving me a place for idea's and different opinions so I can stop and ask myself will this change, alter or improve trading for the better. I like the idea that vendors are screened and reviewed and not all ninja 3rd party indicators and add ons are advertising here and that there is a standard.
The psycology has been the thing i have benefited from the most. I have got allot out of the webinars as well.
I am like Shodson. Some day I would like to come down to Manta and shake your hand and have a frosty one...

Mike,
and Big Mikes Trading Journal has and will continue to be one of the premier and foremost locations for the sophisticated retail trading public to use to share, learn and benefit from others of similar ilk. Thus website has attracted so many stand-up professionals, money managers, traders, programmers and soccer moms and retirees. Every so often we are thrilled with the comments by those who evidently wrote and participated in writing some of the most sophisticated software know to the trading industry. Every so often we are honored to hear from other industry professionals and their unique perspectives regarding this journey we collectively call "trading".
We had the distinct honor of being graced with (some dearly departed) genius(es) such as Andy Z! (ZTR), and others too. We have had the pleasurable comic relief of so many comments from the other floor traders and individual traders as we traversed oh so many news events over the years.
The one thing that has really mattered has been the oversight that Mike has used in managing this collective, and as such, enforcing a standard of professionalism that one would find in the up stairs Wall Street firms, where being button-downed is only the start of professionalism. We have seen so many off color participants reminded of the high standards of professionalism, courtesy and dignity required to participate on this website. We have seen so many have their paid memberships suspended, revoked or timed-out (in the penalty box, as it were). We have seen so many attempt to hi-jack this website by coming on board as their original names, and later as other assumed names from some made up location / origin / home and we notice, hey, something just "ain't right" and just "doesn't add up" with these comments (they would post) coming from where they claimed to reside or be from. So, based on the high standards already in place for so long, even so many participating members were able to discern the frauds that came amongst us, for whatever reason or purpose.
Mike, that's the best testament to a professional demeanor and product this website has become, not to speak of all the benefits derived from being a participant. The notion of providing a common location by which so many hundreds or thousands have been able to post their experiences so as not to be taken, abused or ripped off by the artful works of oh so many, as they pass off their products although being defective, as if they were worth purchasing. The notion of providing a place where others of generous spirit could share and collaborate with other traders and share indicators, strategies and approaches has been genius and well done professionally.
The pool of expertise is invaluable. We're basically hermits in our individual trading world so the sense of kinship of shared success and failure is nice. futures.io (formerly BMT) helps me find a knowledgable sounding board and source of advise more a form of due diligence on top of my own research than I've found anywhere else. We are probably going to face similar issues on our journey's whilst the specifics may differ the genuine sense of desire to help is satisfying to be part of. 'We were all new traders at one point' being the phrase that I've heard a lot.
And personally nice to be able to not be hard sold miracle indicator on every page. To say more precisely that it's refreshing to be faced with useful and knowledgable feedback and reviews on the forum pages.
Thanks to all the contributors out there. Long may it continue!
