I am also based in Bangkok and have had similar issues to the OP. I am using NT with Stage 5/ZenFire, which I understand is a very similar to what Mirus provides. I am using True as my ISP in Bangkok (3BB is not available in my area as it's "full"; I have yet to try TOT but am in the process of exploring this option).
When the data connection to ZF is lost in NT, NT is not able to re-connect once internet connectivity is re-established. The only way I can re-connect is to exit NT and re-start; not ideal at all.
I contacted NT and they suggested to try the following, which I did on Thursday and had not disconnects on Friday, so it may have helped - or it may me too early to tell and just a co-incidence:
----
Click on Start--> right click on (My) Computers--> select "Properties"--> Advanced System settings--> click on Environment Variables
I aslo have an IB account, and sometimes I lose the data connection to IB in NT, but then NT will automatically re-connect in a few minutes.
I think the root cause in Bangkok for me is my ISP (True) which has inconsistent US server ping times (around 400 ms) and jitter anywhere from around 25 ms (rare) to 60+ms. Packet-loss is the only positive statistic at 0% if it is to be believed. My IB account is located on the Asian HK server which helps here.
Have been using Mirus Z feed....which seems to be pretty good. Maybe platform/ISP issues...if you having roundtrips with a lot of latency & TCP timeouts?
Yesterday I had several disconnects to ZF but NT was able to reconnect without restarting. I wonder what that timeout setting does and how it affects the data feed. I will try it.
I use mIrus but also have an IB account that I use for stock trading. How do you know if your IB account is located on HK server?
My understanding of the NT/ZF issue is that a certain type of internet disconnect / reconnect creates a timeout on NT which then will not re-connect for 30 minutes. I recall picking this up from a web search though so it may or may not be the case, I'm not clued up on these things unfortunately.
I asked IB to move my account form the US server to the HK server, and they then confirmed that this had been done. The move can only be done on weekends I understand. I did it to prevent server resets during Asian trading hours. They have three servers - see here for more details:
I am not using True DOCSIS as it is not available in my part of Bangkok unfortunately. The only option with True where I am is ADSL - I'm on the 10MB/512K package.
Dealt with those headaches for a year, broker told me it was my ISP - ISP said it was my broker. Haven't had a problem since I switched to another broker. Good riddance.
It would help to know which broker you experienced problems with, and which broker you are now with (this information is excluded from your profile summary).
Brief update: after adding the code recommended by NinjaTrader that I mentioned in an earlier post, I have had no disconnect issues - going in to my 5th day. Fingers crossed this has done the trick.
