Deep Discount Trading - lowest commis from the three, 10% intraday margin on minis / 25% on full contracts, most of the exec. datafeeds (TT, Rithmic, CQG,..), many platforms, Crossland in the middle in size as an FCM, great service from Howard.
Velocity Futures - volume tiered commis higher than DDT, but lower thank Optimus, low intraday margins, TT exec datafeed only, many platforms (only one with "free" X_Trader and TradeVec?), they are an FCM, but smallest of those three by size, not that kind of personal, fast and knowledgeable service like the other two
Optimus Trading - highest commis, 20% intraday margin, Rithmic exec. datafeed (no Eurex, but good Rithmic implementation in general), probably best FCM (Vision) of these, excellent service provided by Matt
I appreciate the kind words you about our customer service, and I say our because of the good staff that I am lucky to have at Optimus. I really should do a “team” picture to show the guys behind the scene.
If I may, I want to add a few things to your discussions that in my honest opinion you have missed. First, your example of other FCMs that offer Rithmic needs to add the following fact: They have it with R/Trader, not with any other platform, for example NinjaTrader. Essentially, you can use Ninja, SC as a charting and execute on Rtrader…something you can’t do with others.
Second, we have not done a good Rithmic implementation “in general”, but an excellent one. We are so far the only ones that provide automatic username and password for Rithmic based platforms for people to test amongst our VFM competitors. You get it within seconds from our site.
Third, our margins you did get correctly. BUT, 20% is only the starting point. I will lower it is necessary and accommodate traders. Please consider that even with 20% a trader can get 10 ES lots per 10K. I am really trying to help beginner traders and limit the lots they do because of the risk. If I was commissions driven only I would lower it to 300 to have more lots out of traders, but I really try and earn long term customers. Again, I will accommodate upon request.
Lastly, the commissions: I really think you have to compare feeds when that is discussed. I am not saying I am the better or cheaper, BUT I saw from the other site that there is a 1.66RT and 30 cents a side for RTrader. That is 1.66x2 = $3.32 Plus 60 = 3.92 for Emini PLEASE correct me if I am wrong.
In our case most guys who use Ninja, pay 4.0 RT all in, BUT if you trade it via RTrader and use Ninja for analysis we give you 3.75. This goes for your platforms that you use as well. So we are not the most expansive as your comparison shows. This goes for other commodities as well.
There could be cheaper solutions than Rithmic, and they could be significant for some traders. But, all I get is really good feedback from my traders about it and that is enough for me to stick with it.
Rani, I hope I have added some value to your decision making. It seems that you are a thorough and calculated guy, and I am sure that you will make the right decision in the end. Please use our demo, and/or others for comparison. The other brokers you have mentioned are good brokers so I do feel privileged to be compared to good ones out there.

Great review, please also don't forget that with Rithmic you cannot trade the DAX and such instruments. I don't know why but it's not possible. Could somebody please give me an answer on it ? Or are we only allowed to talk what's good about Rithmic ?
There were in the last weeks some problems with the Rithmic service also, they had some outage for some customers. So I wouldn't place Rithmic as an untouchable stable service, it's clearly not.
I want to clearly state that the commissions at deepdiscounttrading.com are the lowest. AND THEY CAN GO EVEN LOWER. Yes, that's right. If you are doing a little bit of volume (like I do) you get even lower commissions than stated on his website. Together with the top personal service it's a great deal. So don't expect your other broker to even touch DDT or come close to it, he will even lower it AGAIN.
In the game we are in, to be profitable you need to have the absolute cheapest commission. That's already an edge. That's why I choose DDT. Make the calculation yourself.
I'd like to know more about these outages. Will you provide specific details on these? Dates, times, forum links or urls describing these outages?
I'm sure Howard @ DDT is happy to have you and gives you his best pricing regardless of your actual trading volume, based on how many times you mention his brokerage on nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) --- lots of free advertising! He's even said so to my media company! But this thread is not about DDT. For DDT discussions, use the DDT thread.
Ok no problem, If they can have the free advertising, so can my favorite broker have right ?

Rithmic is investigating a service outage today that has occurred today, 2/16/2011 with one of our Telco carriers. An update notification will be sent when affected services are restored.

Rani, no big issue here... just trying to keep topics related to the thread title so they can be easily found and referenced later. I know your the OP. It's just regular maintenance to keep threads focused, and in this case the DDT discussion better belongs in the DDT thread.
