Like Big Mike and most day traders, I too blew up my account a couple times and lost enough money to make most grown men weep. It has taken me 13 years to regroup and I am yet to start trading with common sense and with control of my emotions.
I think the way BM is sharing his personal downs and ups of trading, I have come to the right place to learn from those whoe have 'been there, done that' AND at the same time have the humility and generosity to share their learnings.
I chose the user name to reflect my belief in self-knowledge and self-discipline.
I would share more as time goes and I have soemthing useful to contribute.
Thanks, Big Mike for creating this community.
May God bless you!

Hi,
I'm a little late in posting this intro, but I'm happy to find this forum. Thanks to BM for hard work & commitment to this forum & blog. Thanks also to all others who have shared their experiences, charts, & code. My eventual goal is to trade is to trade for a living, I know with the help of the community, I might just have a fighting chance...
I'm a 56 year old retired guy from the mid west U.S. I've been at this (day trading futures) since the mid 90's, have not achieved consistent success yet, but I've learned enough to realize that my success depends on me being focused on executing trades according to a trading plan that I can trust- which I am in the process of refining, and careful money management. I hope to be able to make meaningful contributions here, but first I have to study what has already been offered by all of you. Thanks to Mike for providing this meeting place for us to exchange ideas and encouragement, and thanks to all of you who have already contributed.
Good trading to all, and happy holidays (for me, that's Merry Christmas)

I have been trading for the last 5 years. It has not always been smooth sailing as I have
encountered some serious losses in Futures and Options before. I am now focusing solely
on stocks and I am pleased with the results I have been seeing for the last year or so. I
am very happy to join this forum and I hope that I will learn many new tactics and strategies
from you all!
I am 45 years old and live in Northern Virginia. I own couple of small businesses that are successful enough to allow me to spend time to become a full time trader.
I have tried many different technical indicators and systems with in-consistant results. I have finally come to the conclusion thanks to Bike Mike and this forum that indicators are not the solution. I have to understand price action and demand and supply.
I am trying to learn reading price action by following Al Brooks methods. I have read his book twice and joined his trading room. I am trying to write a trading plan based on some of his setups and also using the cumulative tick index. I think if I can understand the cumulative tick index and establish a market bias, I can then use the setups from Al Brooks book and create a trading plan.
I also use Gomi commulative tick indicator on the instruments that I trade. I use Gomi CD to determine demand and supply on the charts.
Thank you Big Mike for creating this forum. From what I have seen there is a lot of good people contributing to this forum and it has become one of the premier trading communities on the web.
I hope that we all can become consistant in our trading.
Hello Big Mike and to everyone on the community.
I beg you pardon for my english (I am not english speaking) but first because I am a very very very beginner so it will be very probably you find simple and "stupid" posts.
I am not so active on the forum because of I am learning... so I am searching as much material as possible to do that. In the nation where I live there is not much to find out or forums so I decide to surf the web and fortunatelly find yours I think is very professional.
Hoping to write somithing more interessant for averybody,
have a nice day.
Thanks Pippotto
fantastic website. myself, background in financial mathematics. was a professional quantitative analyst with some trading groups. traded lots of equities, predominantly using standard multi factor models. joined the more technical bandwagon a few years ago. tend to trade on a daily basis using fully automated models. build most of my systems in matlab, but love NT as a quick method to test ideas.
