I'm a Portfolio Manager managing $350 million. Enjoy investing in all aspects. I found this forum to be great for sparking synergy with investing ideas. In addition to macro and fundamental models I follow, MACD has been my go to indicator. However, thanks to Big Mike, I have come to greatly appreciate Al Brooks. Price is where its at. All the best to everyone and may your hard work and emotional control pay off.
Hi Everyone,
I am mainly concentrating options trading with swing approach and my timeline for holding is usually 3 weeks to month. My experience in stock market is 5 years started as daily trader (purely emotional with no technical study)
I blew my trading account three times and still hanging around trading because trading showed me what I am from inside and my likeliness of idea working without boss. I am in process of learning let go emotions from time to time, it is kind of difficult but I am at least trying. I made all the mistakes often traders make and it is kind of depressing sometimes but I am trying to learn how not to carry negative energy from a bad trade.
I will try to post my entries from time to time in this forum and hope it helps for some one here.
Let me introduce myself properly. I am a 30-y.o. Canadian who has been a daytrader for the entirety of my post-graduate (Finance/Business) life. My off-the-beaten-path career started when I became a semi-pro poker player during college & university. The boom years of online poker were very good to me, especially since business school gave me a lot of free time to refine & grind (like classes mean anything .. read the book, ace the exam, repeat).
After graduating in '05, I started at a prop shop and have been profitable since month #1, a combination of timing, luck and dedication. So 2013 is year #8 in my full-time trading career, which makes me a semi-newbie. Up to 2011, I was 95% stocks, 5% forex. The last two years have seen my focus broaden to options & futures.
I have had a few experiences with various vendors/mentors/whatchamacallit regarding options & futures. Some experiences were very positive, while others were lukewarm at best. Still, they were all part of the learning process for me in using these new trading instruments.
I am a self-assessed Google lover maniac, and as such I often found myself looking up information on various trading topics. And as it turns out, many results came from this forum. Which brings me here.
I have been a member for a while, but have only recently grasped the scope & quality of the information that can be found here.
Thanks for creating a vibrant and helpful community. I've spent a good part of the last 7 years 'trying' to trade spot forex successfully. Have used bucketshop brokers, spread bet platforms (being based in the UK) and Currenex + other ECN brokers. Needless to say, the net result has still been in the red.
Hoping to learn about the futures market, and trade in a proper 'regulated' environment. I have amassed a good feel and knowledge of price action, so hope to put that to good use here. Also hope to meet and interact more closely with any local interested parties so we can actively share and benefit from each other.

35 year old techie new to trading, just a year of trading with couple of thousand $ down, on 1 lot trades. Treasure hunt is onnn, hope I would become a consistent trader some time in future. Thanks Mike for having a such a place to come, share, learn together.
I'm a translator living in Japan. Trading real money for the past three months.
I've decided to focus on biotech and develop real knowledge and expertise in that sector. Right now I am doing swing trades in small and mid-cap biotech names according to an algo system.
I got off to a rocky start, but am climbing back and at the moment I am about 2% down.
Normally, I am a fairly level headed person (don't like to gamble because I hate losing money so much). But when I sit down at the trading station during the session, my head starts spinning and I feel a strong urge to trade like a monkey, chasing that momo on breakouts.
So the issue for me at the moment is getting control of my emotions and getting some good discipline, along with, of course learning the craft.
I am going to work to keep my head down, turn off the CNBC, execute my trades strictly according to the system, keep the stops in place and aim to really get into the black for the fourth quarter.
Hi, I am working in Rome, at a bank. I've been trading for over ten years, and only recently became profitable. I trade both discretionary (position trading) and automated (intraday, holding from 1 hour to 48 hours maximum). I still have to figure out how to be profitable with intraday discretionary trading.
Hi, I'm also trading on and off for plus minus 2 and a half year iin forex now, but are loosing more than winning. I'm scheptical about this whole Forex trading busines, because if you can't invest at least $ 1,000 to $ 10,000 with a broker when you open an account they are not interested in "Helping" you to become a successful trader. I'm trading on the MT4 platform and it does not help which strategy or system I'm using I'm always on the loosing side. I've now opened a Ninja trader plat form to see how I can improve my systems and strategies. and see if something good can't come out of it. I'm busy looking at all written and video material that I can get hold of on Big Mike's Trading Forum and on Ninja Trader's web site on how to create your different currency charts on Ninja Trader platform because when I create one you just see the side bars with no filling inside to work with. If somebody can help me with a link to go to to enable me to see how to create charts on the Ninja 7 Trading platform then I will be so pleased.
thanks everybody for a forum where you can read of other people that are also experiencing some of the problems that you are experiencing.
Enjoy the trading.
