Been studying for awhile, thought I was ready to wrangle. Found out I wasn't after blowing out an account. Back to studying and was able to stumble on this forum via stocktwits. Thankful for the founder of this forum and all others offering up their advice here!
Hope to learn and earn at some point in the near future...
What a great forum! Thanks for setting it up Mike, this is the first trading forum that's ever felt right to me. Really great info and community you've all built here.
I've been trading retail FX off and on since 2006 (I miss the carry trade!) as well as a few metals. No big blowups, but no big wins either. In the past when I considered the time I was spending trading to the return I was getting, it didn't seem too worth it, so I concentrated on my career and just put it all in index funds. Now that I've got a little more risk capital, I've been thinking of getting into the e-minis, and that's what led me here.
I'm a former network/tech nerd, but not particularly interested in automated systems or the like. Primarily I've been paper trading the ES, NQ, and ZN. Just scalping the early part of the session with one contract using candles and a couple EMAs. Usually take about 7 or 8 trades total on a good day. Been making some paper gains, (using the ThinkorSwim papermoney app) but I know that the fills I'm getting on paper won't translate too nicely. Looking forward to improving my trading and contributing to the community!
I am new to this website futures.io (formerly BMT). I started trading since Feb 2013, I lost a lot of money, which I keep saying to myself it's EDUCATIONAL tuition. But the problem i can't learn why I am keep losing money by listen to radio and watch TV ( jim cramer's show) most of my trade I bought and the next day or two i got slap down, and have to sell as lost. i am hoping from this forum i will learn more and how to trade. I used TD (think or Swim)
Thanks all in advance for the help.

Hello,
Been reading futures.io (formerly BMT) for a little while...great forum!
Have dabbled in options for few years & want to try futures.
Looking at few platforms, one of them being R Trader.
I need a server side order supporting platform.
The plan I have in mind is as under:
I plan to clear my position at the end of the day.
I have the following scenario:
Based on certain analysis, would like to do the following:
a] Long or short Emini S&P 500 (ES), Market on Open (MOO).
b] Setup a stop-loss for movement of certain points....example of this: MOO - 5 points (for long) OR MOO + 5 (for short).
c] If stop-loss not used, close with Market on Close (MOC).
This,
I plan to do on a daily basis. Can b) & c) follow automatically once a) is setup every night? (something like a server side actions as a default).
Basically I'm looking for server side orders.
What this means is that once a buy/sell order is placed MOO, a pair of
linked stop loss & MOC orders are sent to your servers.
These orders sit there until either one is hit, & as soon as one is hit, the other one is cancelled (OCO).
Appreciate if someone can provide some input.
Warm rgds.
New to trading and (4 yrs now)... Started out in FX and now trade futures, primarily CL. Looking forward to absorbing as much of the information here as I can and getting a chance to get to know some of you. Always look forward to meeting fellow traders in the Dallas area so if you are in my neck of the woods drop me a line and lets compare notes!
It's great to have a forum for the little guy. I've been trading with EAs or Algos , Robots on A VPS for a year. It's not easy to know where to start , which instrument to specialise in. what tools of the trade to use that's why I'm here.
I would like to share my passion of trading with others too. Trade the plan plan the trade ect. :bmt: thanks
