I've also made it so that it auto-embeds images if they were posted using twitpic. I will see about adding other image services later. The above example shows this.
You can get a Twitter status # by clicking on the time/date link on a tweet, or from your twitter client.
In an attempt to further encourage video journals, I've added some new functionality tonight that will automatically generate thumbnails from attached video files (FLV or MP4, the FLV format is best).
Then it displays the thumbnail when it is an image, and you click the thumbnail to open the viewer as usual.
@Big Mike is there a option to change who the tweeting on the main tweet page ie. add in topstep and others or is it only going be futures.io (formerly BMT)
I dont know anything about this and havent gave it any thought, what i thought would be nice if on the futures.io (formerly BMT) main page I could add in what tweets i wanted and use the existing tweet display.Ive never used twitter behind times on this one
Now when you post screencast images using the [screencast][/screencast] bbcode, the images will be downloaded to our server and served from futures.io (formerly BMT) instead of from Screencast.
This means they will be faster, and will not be subject to bandwidth limitations or retention policies of Screencast. It also significantly speeds up threads that have lots of screencast images embedded, because it doesn't have to go out and parse data from Screencast on every page load.
The sever is in the process of recalculating and caching all old posts with embedded screencast codes. It will take a couple of hours.
You can tell if the image is being served from the cached copy by looking at the URL. If it comes from cdn.bmcharts.com, it is cached. If it comes from screencast.com, it isn't.
The first time a page loads that has the old screencast embeds, it will take a few seconds as the server downloads all the images and stores locally. This only has to be done once. But with 250,000 posts, it means that some pages are going to load slow for some of you if you happen to be the 'lucky one' that hits that page first.
Subsequent page loads should be near instant and at very least significantly faster than before.
In particular, when you Reply to a thread that contained a lot of screencast images, the reply should parse much faster. This was a problem in certain threads where I was posting a lot of screencast images, and is now resolved with this new method.
