I love being wrong. I love to learn. When i work on my trading system I am looking for the losers, not the winners. Geometry interested me because it can help filter my losing signals.
About analysts, I never said they know nothing. I am proposing that if they are analysts then they get paid to be analysts. But likely they do not trade actively. Trading and analyzing the markets are almost two completely separate jobs in my view, which require almost separate skillsets.
I appreciate differing opinions from mine and value the opportunity to confront myself. And if you prefer it I will happily remove all my comments. After all, this is your thread and I respect that.
Nice price action around a simple free tool.
Note how the ceiling becomes the floor and a weaker ceiling becomes a lower floor.
Upper level would have needed to be drawn in as price increased, but percentages of initial slope were respected.
Slope is still in play.
I will be both. Analyst and trader and I will make this happen. If all else fails I will become a broker, trade room operator, indicator writer.... where the real money is.
complete certainty and 100% conviction that the real money is in trading. I respect your conviction. When you start posting trades I hope to respect your success.
I've explored some of the market geometry stuff, and have been known to throw a pitchfork (or six LOL) up on a chart just to see where they fall. No doubt the charts can be compelling, alluring even.
Certainly there are high level traders using them somewhere; but for every one of those guys, there's one using fibs, another waves, etc etc. All of them a means to the same end, successful or not.
I think the difficulty lies in making the method consistently and reliably actionable at the hard right edge in a live environment. Taken in proper context, they might be a valuable tool; I haven't the skill set to make any of that stuff work so take it at face value (not much LOL.)
No slam on you @edward40. I do think these guys are trying to be helpful. Best of luck.
I think you have found what I have found - we are barking up the wrong tree. OP doesn't want naysayers on his thread. We are just trying to rain on his geometry parade.
Good thing there is an ignore button...
Aside: Just for kicks, I went back and looked at the couple of dozen people over the years I have put on ignore for having what I know are bad attitudes for trading (arrogance, hubris, know-it -all-ness, defensive, etc). Guess what? All but one of them no longer even post here. Maybe they are all colada sipping trading millionaires at this point, and that explains it. Or not.
Your hubris is going to destroy you. Never mind the tools you've decided to use. Mark my words. These men aren't bashing you or trolling you as you seem to think. They're warning you. You don't know this, but both @wldman and @kevinkdog are both highly respected forum members here with many decades of trading experience each. @wldman an ex pit trader from the 80's and 90's with trench warfare experience and @kevinkdog a very successful system trader and respected vendor. People are trying to help you, but you brush the advice away as if it's nothing. I haven't seen anyone so glib on these forums in a long time. I hope you manage to crawl away from the wreckage. It's actually got me wondering - what are you selling?
There are a handful of guys that took an interest in me over the last 30 years. I was smart enough to know that I did not know anything. I found amazing mentors that taught me everything and implored me to learn from their mistakes. I still do not know much, but I have been able to trade like what some people call "a legend" and I learned to invest like "the Oracle". Ive been lucky and blessed and I worked nearly around the clock for ten years...But here is the thing, EVERY week I learn new things that make me luckier and more blessed. On here I learn from noobies, from pros and from regular guys. I evaluate everything. I retain what is beneficial and I let pass without harm the stuff that is not useful. I keep trying to help others here because others here continue to help me, most of them without any idea of the value they shared.
