I just started checking out this platform Friday 5-20-16 and within just about an hour already started having issues with basically the same thing. I was looking at 30 second charts tho. So looks like this has been a problem for a while now. I emailed support and got a response about 2 or 3 hours later stating they would take a look at it Tuesday, as Monday is a holiday in Canada. He stated it might be the amount of ticks coming in from CQG. Kinna a downer that they have this issue with tick/second charts. Another thing I noticed is they do not have any way to set a break even strategy in their trade manager. I did look around this weekend and found something similar to what I'm looking for, but it auto enters the market once you turn it on. I'm just looking for it to manage my manual trades including a break even strategy, not enter a trade for me. If you click on Strategy in the Menu bar at the top, then hover over General, you will see a bunch on Strategies come up. All of them are based on indicators, except for the one called "Trade Manager". I thought I had found what I was looking for, especially when I saw it had a break even strategy. But, I read the first few sentences on the first tab again and realized that this has an auto entry as well.
"This simple trading strategy allows you to setup an entry point and automatically create exit orders with break even and an ATR stop. Market entry occurs when the latest bar closes up (if long) or the latest bar closes down (if short). (The text in bold is referring to the Auto Entry) Confirmed in replay. Bummer..
Does any one know how to code in this platform and would be willing to make a new Trade Manager strategy like the one they have but without the automated entry? That would be awesome!
I'll let you guys know what happens with the support response on the 30 second chart problems when I get one.
I forgot to mention that the 30 second charts was taking anywhere from 5 to 7 minutes to load. Totally freezing the platform. Any time frame from 1 minute and higher was not an issue at all tho...
Seems like a really nice platform tho. I don't use the Elliot Wave or Gartley stuff so I have no opinion on that. Plenty of ways to mark up your chart etc. DOM comes with a lock so you can't accidentally click a trade in by mistake unless you unlock the DOM first. Alerts features are the best I've seen yet. Really nice looking platform. Lots of settings for the UI that can be tweaked to the traders liking. So far I'm really liking it. Shame there is no easy way to set up a break even strategy tho... Maybe if we hit support up enough they will change it. Also, I noticed that once you enable the "Simulated" account it doesn't change the color of the DOM or Trading tab to catch your attention that you are on a SIM account. Might have to suggest that to support also for a change in the future. That is one of the things that NinjaTrader got right was changing chart trader or DOM background color for the SIM mode to make you aware of witch account your on.
That's about all I can think of at the moment. Hit me up if you can create Trade Manager without auto entry and a B/E strategy. Thanks!
Well I'm a new owner.
Ultimate edition.
My other platform kept crashing. Atleast 2x everyday. During trades... was very precarious.
Motivewave even seems to work well with Apple. This makes me think about going to an Apple as well.
if you are down loading a lot of tick data to back fill tick type charting or running 3 party add on like OFA that uses a lot of tick data and or running another platform like bookmap that is using a lot of tick data. that can crash it or other platforms to ...it crashed my ninja trader from time to time . i had to go to IQ AND a broker feed to solve the problem.
