Down 9 ticks on 2 contracts for the day. Still tempted to short crude in this area, but if the ES can't turn around, crude won't either on this volume.
I agree, the 2nd zone has more going for it. I think it may have greater swing potential, if it gets there.
The current area may not be a major turning point. But, I did just take a short at the high end of this range and closed it just a few minutes ago. If I had to guess, it should take a dive here before it continues to $100.
The nearly double in 1 minute volume as price crossed into support zone #1 helps to confirm the area. Tye blue line in the chart below is the top edge of support zone #1. Notice the spike in volume does not occur until the bar where price crosses that line.
