Having a Symbol Lookup available depends on the API - whether it allows Symbol Search requests or not. It is not practical for us to compile a list of symbols and hardcode it into the program for a couple of reasons, but the main reason is that symbol settings may change overnight - and then the symbols are no longer working. People will come to us and ask WHY, and then we have to look for it, fix it, and release another build. Releasing new builds is not only a hassle - it's problematic to the users.
The users however can provide a good solution, because of the sheer number of people that use Rithmic. I suggest creating a WIKI style text file, where users add symbols that they know of - this text file can then be downloaded and imported into your QuoteManager. The CSV text file needs to contain the Data Source, Symbol Name, Exchange, and Category columns. Then you can simply import it into the QM by going to File > Import Symbol List.
Also, people can "give" someone their QuoteManager (until we add an official Export All Settings ability), by copying the databases folder. It will share all data in your database, and your QuoteManager settings. The folder is located here -

You can copy the databases across same versions, and later versions of MC, for the most part, are compatible with earlier databases, however earlier versions of MC, for the most part, will not work with databases from later versions.

1- If I put in a trade at a size of 10000 is there a way to set a Profit Target for 5000? Or must I open two contracts, 5000 each and then exit one at the desired PT? I'm used to Oanda where this is pretty straight forward but not sure if the same applies with MBT and MC.
2- Is there a news study that comes with MCDT? Something similar to the JTecon indicator in NT7. I looked in the studies and nothing stood out as a news study but figured it might be named something funny.
3- Is there a way to make your draw object appear across all charts of the same instrument? I'd like to draw a line on one chart and have it appear in the same place on all other open charts of the same instrument.
I've just finished reading this entire thread and would like to get clear on how the NT backtest misleads. I understand the MC bar magnifier for sequencing of PT and SL within the same bar, but with say a SL in a bar by itself, and the NT backtest shows the trade to execute on the wick of the bar, is this "not real" because with COBC the price would no longer be at the trigger point at bar close?
I know all NT backtests run on COBC, would running the tested strategy live with COBC=False bring it closer to reality?
Can the indicators be made to stay in COBC while the PT and SL execute intrabar while running NT live (like MC IOG)?
Is NT doing anything else to give backtests a "best case scenario"?
I wish I would have found this thread sooner......
I pretty much decided to test MC after reading Mike's comments on this topic on his blog. One of the reasons I autotrade a 4 hour bar is it tends to filter out NT's backtest shortcomings (as well as currency spot market noise). I don't know what NT has in the pipeline but use NT backtesting only to get a strategy into the ballpark and then switch to forward testing almost exclusively--which given the 4 hour bar and account sync issues requires a lot of patience
