I was wondering if you could take a peek at this from this morning?EURJPY got above resistance and yhod.I shorted off of sell candle.Just missed my 1st scale at 10 pips, and then we see the buy candles.I covered the short, and was kicking myself for not reversing.Part of my problem here, is weve allready gone so far allready, hence my reluctance to usr the 21 ema.I prefer to use pullbacks into the 21 ema just after the breakout.I see the reasoning behind your entries. You dont just buy off of a buy candle. You wait for a down candle first, and then buy above the highs of these basing candles.I think this is smart. You sacrifice some ticks on the entry, but you avoid the chop
Where you have the two grey boxes is where I would have entered by using a buy stop order.
To enter short there because the moving averages are all showing long, I would have needed a situation like I had yesterday. EURJPY came close there. You have the swing low around 530, price breaks below the swing low and then moves up to retest. It never came back down so a short would not have triggered. It has to follow all three rules to go counter trend for me.
Sorry everyone. Had to take a break to contend with some family matters. I haven't taken a trade since the chicken two tick trade from over a week ago (November 1st I think). I hope to be back on Monday. Missing out on all of these great moves sucks but sometimes you just have to do the "adult" stuff so you can do the fun stuff.
Today is actually the first day in over a week I am sitting at my desktop computer and not my laptop. At least that's progress. LOL!
So, the 1k challenge is still sitting at around 2k after 5 days of trading. Will be focusing on that next week. Again, I hope.
Been a rough month or so. Two 75+ year old parents. One with pneumonia and the other trying to recover from multiple back surgeries due to osteoporosis. Family first.
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. I will try to get back to it next week. No guarantees.
A little sim trading to get back into the groove. Huge spike up at open, waited for pullback and a new swing. Entered with buy stop limit at peak of swing and exited when it looked like things were slowing down. Glad to get my feet damp again. Not wet until live later tonight. If it was live, that trade with just 2 contracts was worth about 572 bucks.
Now that everyone is healthy again...... time to get back at it full speed. There are a few changes:
1. After today (since I am already up) no early morning trading. My plan is to get up sometime between 5 and 6 (eastern time US) instead of the ridiculous-o'clock I have been getting up. I won't take a trade until I have been up for about an hour. Let the fog clear before takeoff.
2. I am switching to primarily time based charts. I love the detail that tick based gives me but it is hard to watch the screen all the time due to tick based charts not having a set time to finish.
3. I am looking for just a few key trades every day. In a perfect world I would love to take a trade and hold it until the end of the day. We all know how reliable that would be. LOL! I am monitoring the 1,5 and 15 minute charts now. 1 minute for entries with no bias from higher time frames. If a higher time frame happens to match my entry direction then I will use it to manage the trade. This should help me hold onto trades longer.
4. I will record EVERY trading session and post it to YouTube. Including today.
5. I have no set target as far as points or income goes. What the market gives is what the market gives.
6. If I miss a trade I miss a trade. So what. If it turns into a good trend then chances are there will be pull backs and places to join the trend.
7. With trades, hopefully, lasting longer I will post screen shots along the way. May not be a bunch of commentary but at least the screen shot will be here.
Over the next 3-6 months I want to add in ES, CL and 6E to the mix but I won't start that until January. I will do that slowly. One at a time. I will finish the year on NQ only.
Now, lets go make some money! I have some toys I want to buy and my toys aren't cheap. LOL!
