Hi everyone, came here after watching a video on YouTube about programming a trading systems with EasyLanguage and MultiCharts. I work as a software developer, hope to learn how to transfer my knowledge into making a good TS. Looks like this is going to be a good place to start!
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I started trading stocks during high school about 20 years ago. Although I had no real idea, what I was doing, I made some really good trades. After a major loss in the 2001 crash I gave up frustrated. I finished law school, worked my ass off in law business for ages, got married and became a father. Having a child I realised that my income is acutally quite poor and therefore I looked for different options to change this matter of fact. Meanwhile I saved up some trading funds and started trading CFDs over a year ago. Right now I am getting into trading futures.
This forum helped me a lot already considering the technical stuff and I am looking forward to learn more.
After having registered my account a while ago, I thought it is time to actually start using it... ;-)
My focus is on systematic stock picking on European equities with a mid term investment horizon, and trend following on DAX, EuroStoxx50 and EUR/USD being a Swing Trader and not so much interested in Day Trading.
Although I have some (rather general and definitely rusty) knowledge in "programming" (hey, I use Excel and know what VBA is.......................), I am interested in automatizing my trend following models which I currently trade mechanical. This rather due to being interested in learning how to do it and (once it is up and running) to simplify my life but leaving my trading approach unchanged...
I am really happy to join. I work full time as a manager of a large corporation, but my passion is with trading. I focus on the emini and am intersested in day trading as well as option strategies on the SPX. I am looking forward to insightful posts on your forum.
My name is Chris (for short) and I have been trading Forex for the last 5 years with not much success. I have taken a couple of on-line courses but I'am not getting the hang of it yet. I hope I get some tips and info from Mike's Trading Forum now that I have joined.
I used to trade with FXCM but recently switch back to IG which I was before. I was with Alpari also but they went into administration when the CHF collapsed in January. Waiting for my account to be transferred to ETX who have purchased the customer base of Alpari.
According to your database, you'll see that I visited bm many times but was unable to find where to post my first post... LOL
Anyway, inasmuch as time is always a precious commodity for traders, I like everyone to know that bm is really an outstanding source of trading ideas, in my opinion.
I am here primarily to weed thru sea of ideas to see how other traders maintain their profitability and longivity among other trading profitable characteristics.
In terms of trading for a living or something like that, I like to share with newbies that if and when you discover a very potent set of consistently profitable tools, most seasoned traders would agree with me, I think, that those exactly same set of profitable tools which are like the real holy grails many a day, would chew your acct up, many times, even within the same hour.... yes, I am not ashamed to admit that it happened more times that I care to recall.
To stay alive to trade again the next day, we must learn to admit our mistake and like so many other traders have already advised, ADMIST YOUR MISTAKE EARLY, LIKE 5 OR 6 TICS, and GET OUT RIGHT AWAY, so we can trade again and recover our losses, perhaps, the next trade down the road, hopefully.... LOL
My "holy grails" worked this morning but then, it might turn against me during the night session, who knows. THERE IS REALLY NOTHING IN TRADING THAT IS FOR SURE, alright!
But for the moment, pls do enjoy with me, even if it is just for this session only.
Thank you Big Mike and everyone for your time and this space.
(I am very sorry, the intended attachment is not permitted because I have not yet posted 5 posts as of today. I'll try to remember to repost this graphics again after the 5th post, whenever, OK? My apology everyone)
I have been trying to create an automatic system that I feel comfortable with. The systems I have created all seem to have flaws that prevent me from feeling confident in them. None are set and forget. All seem to be dependent on working during certain market conditions. So the key seems to be to find a means of determining those market conditions with confidence. So am I searching for a pot of gold or something that is real?
I use Tradestation and have become quite expert on EasyLanguage though I am tempted by Ninja and the C# experience. Just a little concerned about the learning curve.
