Thanks guys, I think it is working now. One other problem I have is that the news indicator for the past 2 weeks has not been working anymre and is giving an error. Anyone having the same issues?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I have actually fixed the problem. Go to edit script and go to section where it mentions the website name i.e http//cloud. and just remove the cloud. and recompile and save and should be working now.
Gambler,
In the future if you have data issues do the following (suggested by NT support, it worked for me):
Please use the steps I have provided below to delete your historical data:
Disconnect
Tools
Historical Data Manager
Edit tab
Select CL-->Right mouse click-->Delete
Repeat this procedure for TF, GC and 6E as well (or whatever you are trading)
Close NinjaTrader
Documents
NinjaTrader 7
Open the db folder
Open the cache folder
Select all files-->Right mouse click-->Delete
Open NinjaTrader
Connect
Open a new 5 Minute chart
I'll throw up my hand for the ones that are "unimpressed" with NinjaTrader.
The software is very buggy and immature and their dev team doesn't seem to be able to make things work like you think they might. Customer service is arrogant and complacent. A losing combo in my book.
They got $180 of mine. SO glad I did that. Was considering buying a whole license upfront because of how "great" it's supposed to be, and because I liked it on the surface.
The fact that they consider this number as the minimum reasonable trial amount is ridiculous. The fact that they appear to not acknowledge that live and demo trading are different and expect you to demo trade (not make money) until you decide if their "trading" software works or not is ridiculous.
The guy actually had the, um, whatever to tell me(after I had given reasons for cancelation) that I had chosen one of their broker configuration options that was "not-best"(quote from a personal email) As a business man myself, I would never even offer a "not-best" solution, let alone tell a customer that they bought one from me. Laughable, especially considering NTs premium price point.
Am very happy with another software package that coincidentally is free to trade with my broker(and doesn't crash), so I am stoked about that. I did want so much to love and use NinjaTrader, but it failed me!
You may be unimpressed with NT but many of your arguments are also nonsense.
NT7 is not very buggy at all and they are constantly trying to implement requested features. When something new is added or changed there are bound to be bugs. These are usually taken care of in the next release.
NinjaTrader has never and never says Sim mode is equal to Live trading but it is usually accepted that NT's sim mode is one of the closest to live and used to be accepted as the closest.
In order to accommodate most users NinjaTrader needs to offer support for many configurations. For example, I personally would not use IB but many do. This is not a fault of NT.
Your rant is just personal opinion and not truth, by the way.
I am an active TradeStation user and also use, Think or Swim, TransAct and Omnitrader Nirvana Systems. just a little background info I trade Futures options and stock so I feel I have a pretty diverse understanding of most major platforms as well as lesser known ones, I used to use REDI PLUS when I traded at a firm its a Goldman Sachs only platform for those of you that have never heard of them. I am always on the Tradstation forums expressing my un happiness with lack of true 64bit support multithreading etc.. I have heard mostly good things about MultiCharts but also some bad things as far as bugs randomly crashing when using strategy systems, which I do, so I will not be switching to it any time soon. After bashing TS in their own forums long and hard I have heard that 9.1 coming Spring/Summer 2011 will finally be the major overhaul weve all been waiting for 64bit platform are the rumors. Ive had a QUAD core beast since 2006 so you can imagine Ive been waiting longer than anyone so hang in there TS may come through, they may be feeling the heat from Ninja and MultiCharts and finally decided to take some of that revenue and put it to good use :-) well see !
Dan, I have so many crash problems with Ninjatrader plus I have a feeling I have to re-install it like once a month to have my ninjatrader database ok, that I can only conclude that your post is a personal opinion and not the truth, by the way.
It is not correct to conclude that if you have problems, everybody else must have problems as well. My NinjaTrader 7 installation is rock solid, and I have had no problems with my database or my workspaces since June last year (I do not remember which Beta it was). I did not have to reinstall NinjaTrader a single time. I believe that you should find out, what exactly causes your problem, as many others run NinjaTrader without major problems.
This does not mean that NinjaTrader is perfect, I have some minor issues relating to the connection bar, which occasionally throws a volume spike, but that is all. So I basically would confirm what Dan said.
