Done. This has become more important since Sierra Chart has now incorporated BetterRenko bars into their indicators. @aslan had written a customer provider custom study to do that, but this week SC incorporated them into their latest release (in response to customer demand). If I get Sierra Charts with Rithmic data feed on Ubuntu, I will be free from Microsoft......oh what a happy thought

Mike
I need to thank you again for your forum. It is because your forum has grown so large and popular, both Sierra Charts and Rithmic are represented. I sent an email and PM to @rithmic and a PM to @SierraCharts. Both have responded. There is obviously a disconnect between Rithmic and Sierra Charts; they certainly are not on the same page. But, at least a "little guy" like me can get some notice (due to your forum) and now folks are working on the issue.
It appears SC may either require Rithmic clients to go to package 5, or they may drop Rithmic altogether....let's hope neither comes to pass.
Rithmic asked me for the error message; I sent it in and they responded that the WINE is not emulating Windows well enough and that they would have someone send me a test program on Monday to get more info.
Still hoping to get off Windows.....

Following my PM to @rithmic, one of the Rithmic programmers contacted me and provided a diagnostic program to run. The first one did not work; neither did the second one. A third one was provided today and it worked. The programmer is going to incorporate the fix from that diagnostic program into the next API provided to Sierra Chart, perhaps as early as next week.....so the dream of Sierra Charts with Rithmic data feed may become a reality fairly soon

The latest pre-release from SC (706) contains the new API from Rithmic and it allows SC to connect with Rithmic data feed under Linux.
I have connected this morning and know the connection works, but I want to see the performance when the market is open. I can run SC on my Windows desktop and compare it to SC on the Ubuntu laptop.
Big Mike, thanks. Your forum is what made this possible. Without the ability to PM @rithmic and @SierraCharts this would not have happened. I am thankful that Rithmic and Sierra Charts made this available.

The charts look great under Linux and there is no lag to the naked, untrained eye (I had SC/Ubuntu on laptop and NT on the desktop and they seemed to always be in synch). However, whenever I tried to submit an order, whether sim or real, I received an error message that SC had a major problem and needed to shutdown. I posted this on the SC forum, along with a picture of the error message. SC is not able to help (they only do Windows support). I suspect this is a WINE problem, but I don't know if it is my installation of WINE or is a systemic problem with WINE. I would appreciate it if anyone else that uses Rithmic/Sierra Charts and has Ubuntu would test this out.
Until it is resolved, I will be using NinjaTrader....

I successfully SIM-traded on IQFeed/SC/Foresight Linux (see the Real-time live recording of my trade here); never had any SC error message or shutdown prompt. The problem you're experiencing may be with Ubuntu.

Thanks Lolu. I am not sure if it is Ubuntu, WINE, or the lack of connectivity between SC and the clearing house. I suppose in some way it could be data feed related, but that seems unlikely.
Unfortunately I am not that savy when it comes to manipulating stuff around. My son may be able to help me but not sure when we will be able to get together.
Thanks for the reply
