I had plenty of problems with this update. I had just convinced myself to fully commit with NT, even though it's less programmable than my other option, because I appreciated its stability over time.
But then, all of a sudden, they roll out this crappy update. I had all sort of problems. Problems with understanding WTF I had to do, problems with opening the new account, problems with importing my life licence, problems starting up the application, a couple of reinstalls... and then problems with add-ons and even problems with connecting to IB... and then I no longer get historical data from IB.
I'm a sucker, I committed to NT believing in its stability over time... and almost the same day they do the exact things I never was expecting from them.
Time to throw it into the garbage, quickest decision ever made.
It is now both:
They have incorporated their purchase of cloud based firm Tradovate, with a new login screen but the desktop app is the same, just with things that worked now not working
I am happy to provide an official summary of what’s changed which will clarify a few comments made in this thread:
We released NinjaTrader Web and Mobile --> These platforms are included for all NinjaTrader Brokerage account holders
We released a new website with new brand visuals reflecting who we are as a company now and in the future
We released a new NinjaTrader Brokerage account dashboard allowing customers to manage their account, statements, trade performance reporting among other things
We released NinjaTrader 8.1X
It implements a new Logon screen unified with Web and Mobile
Users must now enter logon credentials on each start-up of NinjaTrader Desktop. Although it is fintech industry standard, we have received criticism for this since it’s an extra step to access the platform (I don’t like it either)
Your feedback matters, we took a 1st step and released an improvement by where the username is remembered on subsequent start-ups
We will improve it further by allowing the Desktop to start without having to put in your password each and every time --> We are throwing around ideas internally and plan to implement something in a later release
ATM Strategies are now server side (beta) meaning, you can shut down NT and they are still working on the server/exchange THIS IS HUGE feature improvement!
Static SuperDOM use outside of NinjaTrader Brokerage with this new release is no longer available --> We have a handful of traders that fall into this bucket, communication was overlooked (@autogenix looking at you), I apologize for that
Multi-broker and multiple 3rd party data feeds are still supported --> Nothing has changed here or is planning to change here
If you want to use the prior release (8.027.X) you can
NinjaTrader commissions or fees have NOT changed
We held a vendor summit days before release to unveil the changes however, unlike prior releases where we provide vendors with pre-access, we opted not to do that this time due to the sensitivity around this release. There were two unintended code breaking changes (egg on our face) that have since been fixed and deployed
A new NinjaTrader User Experience FAQ can be found here - https://support.ninjatrader.com/s/article/New-NinjaTrader-Experience-FAQ?language=en_US
I hope this helps consolidate what’s changed. If there are things I think of or come up that I missed or would be helpful to included, I will update this post and let you all know. If you are personally running into issues, please direct them to NinjaTrader support as our team is the most qualified to handle this.

It's not clear to me, i use the single broker licence of Ninjatrader with AMP using CQG for datas. Are there any limitations i should expect, if using the new platform?
- You do have to register for a NinjaTrader account here - https://account.ninjatrader.com:443/register
- The credentials you create are what you will now use to LogOn to the NinjaTrader platform >= V 8.1X
- Upon upgrade to 8.1X with your credentials, your license key is imported behind the scenes and whatever your license key is enabled for is now transfered to this account you just registered for
- Once V 8.1 is loaded, it should look the same as it did before with your AMP connection available in the Connections menu
If for some reason, this is not happening, then reach out to support but let me know here as well.

I have a lifetime license to NT and all I want to do from time to time is download updates. For the last 15 years all I needed to do was click the download link on the NT website to update the software. I totally dislike that I need to create an account from a webpage that doesn't work to just update my software.
As of yesterday the webpage to create an account appears to be broken. I tried multiple times both on my desktop, Laptop and iPad with Firefox, Edge, and Brave to create an account.
After entering my email and clicking the "Sign-In" button nothing happens.
Thanks for taking care of your paid customers by making things so difficult.
Ninja is not my main platform. However, I will say the upgrade to ATM strategies becoming server side is a HUGE deal. I found this out the hard way after a couple times of comp going to sleep and targets being hit on OCO orders, not canceling stops, and then the original stop filling as a limit order.
Since Ninja has taken over TRADOVATE its not surprising that the new web version of Ninja is a replicate of TRADOVATE (I have not checked it out yet so I’m not speaking from firsthand, only what I’ve gathered from reading in here). My concern there is that shortly before the acquisition and to this day, , Tradovate had all but given up in their community help forum and suggestion where Brian Weiss was very active along with their main programmer. They’re both either gone or just don’t care anymore.
Hopefully it’s not just a copy paste or just a name change of the same platform. Lots of problems and issues with platform have been addressed and completely ignored. Example: simple lines, zone boxes drawn the session before disappearing and either never reappearing or randomly appearing after a period of time. Improvements and updates to the web version ceased happening well over a year ago.
These problems and lack of continued updates and improvements caused A LOT of top programmers in the community to leave. Coders that coded some really awesome and extremely useful indicators have completely abandoned ship. I’ve addressed this in the Tradovate forum multiple times and have not received any answers from anyone.
I’m addressing this here because Ninja has bought out Tradovate and from what I am reading, the new web browser version of Ninja is the same as Tradovates web version. Am I correct to assume that the Ninja Version has none of Tradovates community indicators and scripts available, or is that something that can get carried over?
