I really wish people would start new subjects for each new subject, BUT, in responce to your question.
I have an application that downloads historical tick data from IB for many years. I fed this into a pirated copy of TS2000i and it worked perfectly. I don't recall what the constraint was but from memory it downloaded live ticks as well as a period something like the last week or month?
Now I only use MC for my charting but use NT for my trading.
Neil.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
We were unable to replicate the issue. It is probably a random visual glitch, which could be local computer related. Again, whatever we tried, we could not make that happen. If it occurs again, please come to our Live Chat.
There is no historical tick-by-tick data from IB. We draw their second data as ticks. IB support was right on this one.

Yes, it is true. I ran into this as well unfortunately. I'm having a hard time typing today due to broken hand, but maybe you could create a new issue ticket on MC's project management board and make this a feature request. It would be a nice one and hopefully quite easy for them to implement.
Mike, Sorry to hear about your hand. Hope you get better soon.
I won't mention any competitors of ours, but some take years to consider, and still don't implement the suggestions of their users . Our system is not even 20 weeks old. You can see the visible progress on the bugs and SOME feature requests. Our main priority is the stability of the platform, so bugs come first (as I posted earlier, that's going to be the upcoming goal, bug-free application). Clearly, there can be as many feature requests as there are users, so it's impossible to get them all. However, some feature requests (as you can see in the PM) are being incorporated in MC7 and MC7.1. The ones that fit in with our architecture implementations, and ones that have the most votes get priority.

I searched this thread for "options" and about the only desired reference I found was that one cannot autotrade options with IB. Good to know, but I was hoping to find-out if anyone here is using MC for options. If so, please share your experiences and impressions.
Seems like most here are into futures, of which I know next to squat. I'm trying to change that now, and even if I get hooked on futures, and can do well at it (paper trading indicates I have much to learn), I expect that options will remain a big part of what I do... I use ToS now, for reference.
A 2nd question... Is there a limit of the number of symbols that can be in a portfolio for backtesting purposes? I'm sure there must be. I sometimes have a basket of stocks / ETF's that is over 500.
Got this response -- Please read about the keyword NewLine in our help file. NewLine
Starts a new line and returns carriage. Notes
Use the "+" character to add NewLine to a string expression. Example
FileAppend("c:\testfile.txt","We can see a new bar for"+ NumToStr(Date,0)+ NewLine);
implying it is possible (and I didn't read deep enough)
I am afraid you are correct -- I am hoping some one has the chance to test (I am buried in other stuff right now) and if it doesn't work for text to the chart, report here or even better update the bug report on MC project page.
best regards, Maxey
P.S. Some-one did test it for me, and the keyword NewLine does NOT work. It is apparently ignored in a text string that is written to a chart in a workspace. I updated the MC record. Anyone else who also thinks it should is welcome to chime in with a comment or vote.
