Nothing to see today. LOL! markets started out really choppy and in a tight range. Made me wonder if they are waiting on the ADP employment numbers tomorrow or if it is just a holiday week kind of thing.
I can't even find any decent trades looking in hindsight. I think the markets figured out I was live again and just wanted to mess with me. LOL!
Broke the ice today and took a trade. Didn't turn out in my favor but that's trading. Managed the risk really well and only dropped 10 bucks. Exited before it got to my stop (it would have reached my stop). Wasn't the best of trades as far as the entry goes but tomorrow will be better.
Going to stay away from the lower time frames. Need to focus on the 5 minute and above.
Hope everyone had a green day. More details and pics tomorrow. I should have plenty of time trading the 5 minute instead of trying to scalp the lower time frames.
Funny you mention that buddy, I got torn up trying to play the M1 and M3... turns out M5 is like the bare minimum for most human day traders and we'd probably be better off if we went higher, but intraday... lol... great to hear from ya man.
First of all let me say that since the last time I posted here I have not had one single day of losing money!!! What's my secret? I haven't traded since the last time I posted here.
In all seriousness I am going to start trading again. The account is funded and ready to go so I have no excuses. Going to stick with NQ for now. I am actually using MT5 for my trading. I may go back to NT but for now, MT5 works just fine and I don't need anything fancy anyway. All those bells and whistles are just distractions. All I need to know is price going up or down. I am not really interested in catching the top or the bottom just a small slice of any trend will be my friend.
Good thing I didn't start today, that's some ugly price movement on NQ.
Hope everyone finished out 2019 strong and 2020 is your best year ever!
Wondering why I am up so early when the markets don't open in the US for another 3+ hours.... I know.... it's insanity. LOL!
Looking back at historical price movement a part of me sees the times price moves nicely pre-US-market and I think how nice it would be to catch one of those moves. Jump in, make the trade and be done before the madness starts.
In reality, the overnight moves are very inconsistent. Some days Asia and Europe come out to play but most days they don't.
I think I need to reset my alarm for about 1 hour before market open. That would give me enough time to get fully awake and ready. Probably not today since I am already awake with caffeine flowing through the veins.
Will need to be cautious today with the China trade deal signing as well as other Geopolitical BS going on around the world. Watched the market drop like a rock when they announced some rockets landing in or around US military bases... Dropped 40 points down and then back up 30 points all within a 5 minute window. This is the unpredictable side of current market conditions. Keep the stops tight.
Took a small win off of a rejection candle on the 15 min chart. Just a single micro contract for about 6 ticks. Since it was counter trend I didn't want to hold it too long. More of a psychological win than anything. Main thing is that I controlled my emotions when it went against me for a little bit. It came close to my stop but didn't take it out.
No trades for me today. Woke up to a soaking wet carpet. House is all torn apart right now. Thank goodness for insurance. About 10-15k in repairs needed. Going to be a lovely couple of months. Oh well. 2020 throwing curves already. LOL!
