I found this trading forum when I was searching for some information on a technical indicator. This was mere curiosity because I consider myself more of a "quant" and do not spend too much time mired down in over-analyzing charts.
Serious trading was introduced to me by my brother, although I have been trading for years. Over the past couple years I have traded many types of stock options with a focus on steady income trades versus higher risk directional plays. Volatility is the name of the game for me so the past couple weeks have been right up my alley. This environment, while challenging, provides great up and down profit potential.
I consider myself a bit of a contrarian trader. Some of my favorite trading strategies include selling cash covered puts, selling covered calls, buying debit spreads, sometimes selling credit spreads. Additionally, I have traded butterflies, iron condors, calendars, double diagonals, and broken wing butterflies. Like many traders I have enjoyed great success and been destroyed by the occasional (and rare) three standard deviation move against a position. Every trade, win or lose, offers an opportunity to learn something valuable.
I have been learning Multicharts for 4 months and just start using it to trade for Index futures and FX about two weeks. still get a lot problems during coding. hope learn more and help each other here in this forum. expect to know you all and lets success in trading.
I'm from Turkey and tried to discretionary trade forex for 3 years. Beginning of 2015, I learned EasyLanguage and started to system trade. Hopefully I found my way, but for sure have a long long way to.
I am just starting with trading. Before opening a real account I would like to read and understand a lot of things about futures. I hope one day, I would be able of telling others about my experience. In the meantime I am only a newcomer.
I am VERY new to trading and have already had my "teeth" kick in a few times so far trying to scalp the Emini S&P....
Very dangerous endeavor if you are not really up on reading charts and indicators etc....I have read many forums and blogs about trading but find this one to be the most honest and forthright about whats "really" going on out there and how to cope with the psychological and emotional side to trading...as well as strategy for entry and risk management (which i seem to lack the most).
Hopefully with enough time, reading, asking and patience I might just pull off something that could pass for successful trading!
I have been trading for about 5 years. I have a similar story to most. I've had spans of profitability but look forward to being CONSISTENTLY profitable!
because of capital controls and the fear of "bank accounts' haircut" I decided to slowly place some of my year's savings in stocks. My plan is to buy 1000-2000 Euro of SPY every year, for a very long time and never sell it. Perhaps even forever, there is no time limit. I believe in the long run it will be better than having kept it in the bank account, this is my "measurement stick". Other good investment currently in Greece is to buy a small apartment for 40,000 Euro and rent it for 250 a month. Note that this is a buying price of less than 200 rents, while 5 years ago before the crisis, apartments were sold at a price of 300 rents. I bought an apartment 2 years ago and rent it and it is going well, however I do not have enough money to risk a second apartment. I ll just keep money in the bank, and slowly place some in stocks. I wish my kids were older to spend the money for their college, but they are 3 and 0 years old. You see, keeping money in the Greek bank has been evolved into a stressful business darn !
The biggest risk I am taking is, I believe, that no broker is safe to trust over a very long period of time. Since my investment has no time limit, I believe my biggest vulnerability is the broker and not hte market itself. I have posted a related post to the Beginner's forum, perhaps you would want to comment on wether I am safe or not, and if not what to do.
Anywayz it is happy to be here, I know Excel very well, if anybody wants some help feel free to ask, I do not have much free time but I will do my best to help anyone in need,
