Boxing? Trading is tougher than boxing. In trading you may lose all money you have, lose your wife,
lose your health and even jump out of the window in despair.
Want to make money consistently?
So prepare your ass to be kicked for at least 5 years before you reach that stage.
Some people will still be clueless after 10 years in the market.
I don't believe in on price indicators, don't believe in fundamentals.
I believe in adapting to market conditions.
Market is a big cemetery, where fast guys will be soon gone, slow guys pray for a few more years,
and a couple of guys quite enjoy the process.
Hey Traders,
Thanks for making this such a great site!
Pretty new to this and don't have too many opportunities to practice my trading, but hoping to turn from red to green one of these days!
Thanks,
Pablonoob
I’ve never really been a person to post on chat forums but I stumbled across this site in my quest to find a good trading journal and thought I would join the community. I mean it can only only be good for trading surely.
I have recorded my trades from the beginning and have been consistently adding performance tracking capabilities into my own journal. When trying to add sophistication to my performance analysis I thought “hey I’m probably not the first person to try this I wonder if something with the performance tracking capabilities I want already exists so I can save myself some work”. Turns out there are many alternatives and I am currently trying out a few I found on this site to see which works best for me.
I’m a discretionary trend following trader who mainly trades the commodity futures markets. I have been trading the futures markets exclusively for just over 2 years now after deciding I wanted to give trading a proper go. Prior to this I had been dabbling in the stock market with very little idea what I was actually doing and not really using any trading plans, technical analysis, risk management, etc.
My goal as a trader is to cut losses fast and let profits run. My winning trades can last from weeks to months to years (yet to happen but the right trade will come along at some point). My losing trades can range from minutes to hours to a couple of weeks. My trading system is based around 6 main setups (3 long term setups and 3 swing trade setups) involving moving averages and Fibonacci retracements.
Trading is not a full time pursuit for me yet. It is something I do in my spare time whilst working full time as a chartered accountant. Living in Australia and trading the US markets can help with this as there is hardly any market action during my working day. However, trading the US markets from Australia also brings up its own challenges as I am mostly asleep during the trading day and cannot watch the action as it unfolds. It has taken a while to get used to the broken sleep waking up to check how the markets are going but I'm used it it now.
I’m currently trading with Interactive Brokers using Sierra Charts and recording all my trading using Trading Journal Spreadsheet.
I look forward to contributing to the community and learning a lot more about trading.
I consider myself a newbie in trading. After reading some books, I was excited about the possibilities trading could open to my life, so I decide to learn, and learn. I started trading in SIM mode with some success, so after some statistics, I thought I was ready for real.
After a short experience of trading the emini S&P in real, I lost a significant amount of money, too much. What happened? I didn't include EMOTIONS in the equation. Yes, emotions were revealed as the main obstacle to address. One should be trained to manage those strong emotions of real trading. In addition, my vanity, ego, superiority complex, and anxiety had to be compensated. It is a really tough challenge, so I need to work hard.
As another consequence of the experience, I lost my confidence in both myself and my system.
Now I am in the process of learning, searching for and defining a system easy enough to be practicable, working my discipline, and trying to manage my emotions.
I am also developing some indicators facilitating my trading, and some strategies as an exploration toward a no-emotion bot
I try to focus more on the process than on the results. I'm discovering the trading process as a way of self development and improving my personal skills. I also try to enjoy while trading, and learn from mistakes.
I am an avid learner so I'm open to new challenges.
I look forward to listening, learning and contributing, with the hope that some time in the future our efforts will be fruitful by returning some decent profits.
looking to start trading futures, currently an options trader. Like so many have said in their introductions, it is great to find a place where there is knowledge and passion for trading. Thank you BMike for making this site.
